The problem with chain burger joints - and maybe most burger joints - is that they have to cook the meat well done.
Out here, sole proprietorships can cook the meat to order which makes them tastier...also, better quality of meat, etc.

I used to live on LI. I've eaten many an All American Burger. I lived on the N. Shore and we would drive 1/2 hour one way for no reason other than to have an All American burger.

I've eaten 5 Guys once and that was enough.

The pies I posted, Briermere farms in Riverhead. We'd drive an hour one way to spend $15.00-20.00 per pie. And you'd have to let all your friends know you were making a pie run because if they found out you went and did not bring some back for them you were on the **** list.

Nothing beats a local family owned eatery.
