One word - vapor.

If you think that pot smells like a burning tire then you haven't been around any recent strains.

CO got it right, and the Feds are getting it right in not prosecuting.

Any tests for Pot-DUI's?
My main concern is pot heads driving around while stoned.

Field sobriety test works. There also are gum swabs test that will check for thc as well as other pharmaceuticals though not clear how legal they are on a stop.

I'm way more worried about the guy who has a few drinks at dinner...

"Any tests for Pot-DUI's?"

Yes...be on the alert for
1) watery eyes
2) dry mouth
3) an open bag of Oreo's on the seat (thats the biggest clue)
4) Grateful Dead, Stones, Allman Brothers or Canned Heat playing
5) Uncontrollable laughing
6) sudden bursts of brilliance
7) Euphoria

to name a few.

Amazing how many drunks will drive........a person stoned still knows right from wrong.

I recently spent a week at the beach in San Diego and it seems like it was everywhere; I have a couple of neighbors who seems to be constantly stone, too. It doesn't smell so much like a burning tire as a it does a burning sewage treatment plant. Maybe I don't have any appreciation for it as I've never smoked, but gawd it stinks.

You know what the Grateful Dead fan said at the Grateful Dead concert when he ran out of pot?..."Wow, this music sucks!"

I am not a pot smoker... at least not since 1979...But, I support the legalization effort for very simple reasons. Legalization will increase production and availability. Plus, weed is easy to grow and hydroponic stores are on every corner already. When legalized, many serious pot heads will grow it themselves. In a supply and demand economy, that means significantly lower prices. When the prices drop, there will be less profit, and the Mexican marijuana cartels will lose interest. That will save thousands of lives.

Prohibition does not work. It never has. It may even increase the interest in the prohibited substance. Pot smoking is here to stay. I say take advantage of the tax opportunity and lower our income taxes.

Afterall it is a plant! Hemp, is a better description for its aroma while burning. But its odor is very distinctive as anyone who has smoked pot can detect it immediately. Sort of like sitting in an old Porsche, just something about the smell and feel.

'So...fracking might be somewhat environmentally risky so we'll vote it down. But it's OK for our entire state population (including our kids!) to fry their brains (and fry our future) on pot. Our priorities are totally FUBAR here.'

You're a fawking idiot. Just once get out from behind the clown car and quit smelling the fumes from your GOP talking tail-pipe. And I'm not talking about an actual car, hint.

Go to Greeley and you'll get the story. Pot smoking for whatever reason they do so, does not affect your ground water, your air, your children's future. You short-sighted conservatives, ugh, whatevers are so, short sighted. Move to Greeley, get your children into school, next to the frack wells. And, don't forget to drink the wattttteeeerrrr! You and your brethren are all pigs.

I try hard to avoid all second hand smoke. Tobacco of all sorts stinks but the burning sewage plant is a good description of pot. It STINKS and I hate the smell worse than a cheap cigar. I don't give a hoot what some adult smokes inside their own house. Just close the windows and don't stink up my air.

Driving stoned should be just as illegal as drunk driving or driving while on crack or prescription drugs.

Wow dude, take it easy. Let's be open to diverse opinions, since all that has been discussed here are just opinions and interpretations of what might happen given the facts at hand. There's nothing wrong with your opinion differing from mine and I don't believe that makes you an idiot at all. Life will go on. Fracking or not. Pot smoking or not. What is going to happen will happen regardless of what a bunch of car guys on an internet forum think. We all have different ideas of how this will play out but I am pretty sure that PPOT will have minimal impact on the actual public policy that results from these issues.

BTW I'm not a republican.

Article in the local paper today already has stated that the cost of "legal" marijuana is many times greater than the cost of "underground" marijuana. So the state will start spending big $$ to pursue and prosecute underground marijuana sales to ensure that people buy on the "legal" so they can get their tax money. End result is a financial net zero or loss for the state.
Don't know for sure but my guess is that the smart illegal operator will keep his prices just below those of legal operators. The "bargain" is to have a medical card as it's priced 25% below recreational weed due to taxes.
As far as your fracking views, you must not have been in the area in the 60's when they pumped wasted chemical weapon material into the deep ground to dispose of it. Earthquakes on a regular basis. Stopped pumping and the earthquakes stopped.
At least that consequence can be stopped. Contaminated groundwater, not so much.

I'm not a fracking advocate, was just using it as a comparison of priorities. Sorry it's gotten so out of hand, I had no idea that I'd be attacked for it. Let's stop hijacking the thread, there is some good reading here on the subject:

Fracking, whats the big deal?

issue is that the state of CO has priced themselves out of the market-
they have set the price at a point the it will not denture the criminal market.
yea they want a 30% tax but the market price needs to be such that there is no economic gains from illegally producing and selling weed.
