Got a ride in a 991 turbo S yesterday.

It was fast.

The guy liked my 914, started talking and he offered me a ride. We were at the Glen Center at the top of Beverly Glen canyon, he gave me a quick run on Mulholland in it.

Of course it was really fast...it almost felt too competent. He punched it and let me feel some boost, it was not at all violently fast like the ZR1 Corvette I rode in last year. More smooth and refined, felt safe and solid. It's probably faster than the 'vette but less sensation of speed and acceleration.

I think it's a beautiful car but sort of large for a sports car. Not much to criticize, though.

FWIW, owner was a real nice guy. He said that when he saw my 914, he thought, "now here is a real Porsche guy..."

Glad you were even on his radar in the 914.

That's my chief complaint with the 996 and later 911 - way too big.

You can see the owner walking up in the first pic when I was snapping a photo of his car. He's owned a lot of Porsches and we were talking on the drive about how this car was sort of the opposite of a CGT. Almost the same power and performance but the other end of the spectrum in being safe and easy to drive fast.

I may have talked him into bringing it out to Willow Springs for an upcoming track day.

The lack of center-caps on your teener speaks volumes...

Purposeful, business-like, no nonsense. I like that a lot.

I did not realize how much bigger even the 991 is than the 996! Yikes.

He loved my 914. I'm not kidding.

It's actually the second time I've sparked up a conversation with a 991 owner in that parking lot, other guy was just as cool. So much for the "prick new Porsche owner" stereotype.

Why thank you very much!

Though I like a beautiful stock 914 2.0 as well.

My 914 is riding on Khumos and it had its first serious canyon run yesterday am after the TRE "Hangover Rally" meet. Tyson Schmidt and I shot through some Malibu canyons, (Stunt/Mulholland/Pyuma), me chasing him in his Boxster S. He's a better driver in a faster car but the 914 is a go-cart.

If you were going to be in an accident, which would you rather be in?

Thats all fine and dandy, but for an old lady like myself - did it have proper mug holders?

Nobody does cupholders as well as the Americans. Any cup holders that I have seen in a Porsche or BMW are designed to soak the dash and its buttons in the brown sticky fluid. That's a deal breaker right there. Spot on livi....

I need one of these. Can someone help me explain to my wife that trailer park living is not that bad so I can sell my house?

Go watch that video about how you pull the rear bumper cover to replace the air filter. That is when I decided that I will never own a 991.
