It's a movie that sticks with you for a few days after. A real-life nightmare.:) |

Not sure how Fishburn got any work after that abomination. |

Watched The Apartment (1960) with two-time Oscar winner Jack Lemmon, Oscar winner Shirley MacClain and a host of early 60s supporting cast (Fred MacMurray, Ray Walston) and directed by seven-time Oscar winner Billy Wilder.
<iframe width="903" height="508" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/OcslkrBMLGc" title="The Apartment (1960) | Official Trailer | MGM Studios" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> I can see why this was such a well-received film (it won five Oscars!); it's got a great story and was expertly edited; I could not find a bad or unnecessary scene. Real top-shelf performances by almost everyone, and even some of very minor players were scene-stealers. The Doctor who lived next door (the late Jack Kruschen) was particularly well-played if only briefly. For a 63 year old B&W film, it holds up quite nicely. 9.5/10 Highest recommendation! |

Jack Lemmon is one of my fav. actors, too. If you haven't seen it - do yourself a flavour and check out "Cowboy" with Lemmon and Glenn Ford. 1958 and directed by Delmer Daves. Also has the title sequence by Saul Bass...... <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UgqHf5HTFDg" title="Saul Bass: Cowboy (1958) title sequence" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Heart of Stone just went on Netflix, starring Gal Gadot. Sort of like a cross between Atomic Blonde and Minority Report. Good action, entertaining, but not awesome. I'm up for watching anything Gal does, personally. She's over-the-top capable in too many ways here.

^^^ I added that to my 'watch list'....along with about 10 others on Netflix that I can't seem to fit in for watching.

Deborah Kerr fest on TCM today. "King Solomon's Mines" on right now.

The lovely prim and proper Scottish lass herself: <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/W4WY4jN6sNc" title="She's a Star [a tribute to Deborah Kerr]" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Patrick Swayze fest on IFC today. The cult classic "Road House" on right now.
Not commercial free....but easily a tradeoff to get UNCENSORED content! ;) |
