Watched "ARGO" on FX tonight. I thought it was very good. I remember the hostage crisis but I was young so it didn't really impact me much at the time.

I saw that Wayne....and have seen it twice so far, which is enough for me for a while. I remember the hostage crisis as well but never knew all the details such as this aspect.....the rescue operation. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the head's up though! SmileWavy

BTW...earlier tonight on TCM I waatched the '34 version of "The Count of Monte Cristo". What a classic tale of revenge! :D

True story.
A man who sacrifices his own potential wealth for principle, a man who dedicates his life to turning boys to into responsible members of society who can be counted on.
A true modern day hero. He has made this world a better place.
I watched the real story unfold in real time, including the DE la Salle vs. long beach poly game highlighted in the movie.

BTW Joe Montana chose this man to coach his son, and when Joe insisted on hanging out on the sidelines and helping, the coach kicked him off the field into the stands because Joe's priorities were not aligned with that of the team.
And Joe said "OK coach".

Funny, I flipped to TCM during commercials of ARGO but didn't stay long. We have the same tastes for sure!

I read the book when I was young so was drawn to the film version, I guess. Also - I find it fascinating the amount of work put into film making in the early days of the industry. No wonder it is such a huge industry and with ever evolving technology.

Right now watching a couple WW II flicks on THIS TV.....the last 1/2 of "Castle Keep" and afterwards "The McKenzie Break".

Prost!

Last night on AMC I caught the last 1/2 hour of one of my favourite Pacino movies..."Carlito's Way".

Tonight on THIS-TV I'm watching Donald Sutherland in "Eye of the Needle". It started at 8pm.
