ANNA. Sort of a Atomic Blonde wannabe. Chick assassin that may blow you or may blow you away in a heartbeat. Not nearly as good as AB but not terrible.

I'm planning on seeing this Thursday night:

Once upon a time in Hollywood. Typical Tarantino, all over the place movie. Margot Robbie was looking sporty driving in a '68? 911 and Timothy Olyphant and the Dewey guy from Justified were in it also.

That looks great! Here's a short Moon clip - Not a spoiler but maybe you shouldn't watch it.
I plan to see it ASAP.

Looks interesting.

Watched an interesting trilogy that I’m surprised I’d never heard of before, called the “Before” trilogy, by Richard Linklater.

https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/1237-the-before-trilogy

3 films with the same 2 leads, shot 10 years apart. So they age around 20 years, in the movies and in real life.

Probably not the genre most here like, though!

One of my favorites is 2010: The Year We Make Contact. Not as groundbreaking as the original, but more personable and entertaining, IMO. Roy Scheider, Helen Mirren, and John Lithgow, amongst others.

The movie "Black 47" is great. A must see.

Trailer; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pSGZt-mhSY

One man's ruthless pursuit of justice plays out against the darkest chapter of Irish history in this riveting revenge thriller. In 1847, battle-hardened soldier Feeney (James Frecheville) deserts the British army to return home to Ireland, where he finds his country ravaged beyond recognition by the Great Famine. When he discovers that his mother has died of starvation and his brother has been hanged by the British, something snaps, sending Feeney on a relentless quest to get even with the powers-that-be who have wronged both his family and his country. There is only one man who can stop Feeney's bloody crusade:

Ad Astra was a boring, disappointing mess.

TCM is airing a bunch of 60's spy thrillers today.

Just finished up with this one - and three more on the way!

Thanks... I'm planing to see this soon.

BTW: James Frecheville (Feeney) is an Aussie actor who was in Animal Kingdom.

I saw Black 47 last night and... Wow, great movie. Simple and effective. Very satisfying.
There's a scene early only that has stayed with me. No spoilers but the outcome is tragic. It hit me really hard.

If you like movies that don't follow the Hollywood formula then this is for you.

(It's a bit like Valhalla Rising but with more purpose)

Just watched Black 47. Really good!

It made me think of a movie from 2006 - The Wind That Shakes the Barley, which I remember liking.

Watched "Last Breath" on Netflix--true story about oil rig divers in the Black Sea, and an accident they encountered--very compelling.

Manhattan Night, 2016. Stars Adrien Brody and the very spectacular Yvonne Strahovski. Noir-ish story of a newspaper reporter investigating an unexplained death and other things. More than a few unpleasant characters and a few twists and turns. And did I mention the very spectacular Yvonne Strahovski?

sc_rufctr 09-23-2019 04:56 AM

^^^ Yvonne's photo got leaked... Just sayin ;)

Thanks. Still replaying the movie in my head. I'd never heard of her before I watched the movie.

As our resident Aussie, you should have told us about her long ago. ;)

sc_rufctr 09-23-2019 08:13 AM

From Chuck :)
