Watched "The Return of the Salt Ghost" about a 1948 Triumph motorcycle that was used at El Mirage and Bonneville for land speed records. Great story behind this bike and the guy who raced it. It was kind of high brow reality TV but it was great! It's on Hulu.

I'm watching a great movie called "The Ex" on Comedy Central. Jason Bateman and Zach Braff with Amanda Peet.

Typical " old boyfriend still in love with other guy's wife" storyline but it's really funny.

Multiple Maniacs

Saw the new release of this last night. It is, needless to say, kind of a riot:

On AMC now:

'The Thrill of it all" with James Garner and Doris Day. Really good comedy.

Last night they had a Boris Karloff marathon. "The man they couldn't hang" and "The Terror" were really interesting. "The Terror" also starred a very young Jack Nicholson.

Good stuff.

Thanks, Wayne......I actually saw "The Thrill of it All" at Radio City Music Hall when it first came out so has some sentimental value to me.

Doris Day and James Garner....two of the best ever! ;)

I was 9 years old, Wayne.....a baby boomer! My paternal grandparents lived in Staten Island so we visited the area a couple times per year. Also attended the New York World's Fair in '64, which for a 10 year old was pretty dang awesome.

One of these days I'll dig out my NY pics which were taken by my Kodak Instamatic. :)

Back to the topic of movies......next weekend Sundance TV is having an Alfred Hitchcock festival! Of course, I'll be engrossed in the first weekend of college football so Sunday will be a better day for me to watch and flicks.....;)

"Eyewitness" from 1981 with William Hurt, James Woods, Christopher Plummer, and Sigourney Weaver - started at 8 on "Movies" channel

May not be a "movie" but rather a TV series:

Virginia Mayo has always been one of my favourites.....check out those GORGEOUS legs!!!

Both "Combat" and "The Gallant Men" were the two combat shows I always tuned into as a kid.

As well as "The Rat Patrol" which was a little different but still way cool because of that jeep mounted machine gun...

Quote:

The early 1960s saw ABC reliving the horrors and heroism of World War II on two fronts -- the European campaign on the acclaimed Combat! and the battle for Italy on The Gallant Men. Both programs enjoyed the creative input of directorial genius Robert Altman, who lent his signature layered, humanistic approach to both shows. Altman directed The Gallant Men's pilot, setting the template for what was to follow. Robert McQueeney stars as the series' unique framing device, an Ernie Pyle-type war reporter embedded within Captain Benedict's (William Reynolds) platoon. As McQueeney's reporter narrates the events of the invasion, we see war as it's lived by its foot soldiers, so-called pawns in the game of war, whose determination to finish a fight they didn't start proves that sometimes a pawn can save a kingdom.

Watched "The Imitation Game" the other night on Netflix. Great film and story behind it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Battle_of_Algiers is a war movie you should watch once.
It's unlike any other. Almost too real to events. Told from a relatively neutral perspective.
