Russian tank soldiers in Afghanistan. Presents both sides. The stupidity and the brutality.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beast_(1988_film) Similar to the Russian movie: 9th Company (2005) - IMDb https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417397/

21 bridges. Cops and robbers and drugs and death. Sort of predictable. Not a bad action movie.

Watching "How the West was Won" on Grit TV. The one narrated by Spencer Tracy. Epic saga! Zeb just came hone from the war and heard from his brother about their father, Linus (Jimmy Stewart).
Zeb, played by the late great George Peppard.

"Bye Bye Birdie" was on earlier. TCM. Hadn't watched it in a while and forgot how great it was. I only watched the last 45 minutes but enjoyed it a lot. Ann Margaret is so young! Great cast!

Watched a good one last night. Wes Craven's "The Last House on the Left".
Watching "Damnation Alley" on YT right now. Jan Michael Vincent, George Peppard, and Jackie Earle Haley - and the Dean Jeffries designed Landmaster. Very cool SciFy!

I’ve seen the original 70s version. It’s as if Otis Toole tried to direct a comedy.

"In Cold Blood" is quite a movie - especially the ending when the two are hanged....and the scenes leading up to it.
The one reporter asking the other if the hangman has a name. He replies: "We the People." Fantastic.....

Have you seen Manhunter (1986)? That’s another good one in that storyline.

Watching The Shining
Enjoyed it but it didn't scare me nearly as much as when I first saw it in a big, old, empty Club Med hotel in the Swiss Alps. Only a few of us left after all the guests/staff had left for the summer season. The walk from the lift to my room down a long corridor at night is not a walk I'll ever forget

Kubrick's The Shining is not frightening until you spend some time with it. Then you shiet your pants. Jack is beyond gone in this scene. Delbert (Philip Stone) is Alex's Dad in A Clockwork Orange.

Philip Stone was also in Barry Lyndon, making three consecutive Kubrick films. I noticed that when I was looking up Joe Turkel, who played the bartender Lloyd. He was also in Kubrick's The Killing and Paths of Glory. I really liked him as Eldon Tyrell in Blade Runner.
