While not common in your neck of the woods, it's not unbelievable. Back in the late 80's or early 90's Parks and Wildlife yanked one out of Lake Carolyn. (114 and NW Hwy, O'connor rd).

They guessed it had come all the way up the Trinity, left the river, waddled a few hundred yards and plopped itself into the lake.

It's feasible, as the Elm Fork of the Trinity River begins at Lake Lewisville.

We used to run our jon boat up and down that fork of the river in hopes of seeing others, but never did.

Log. A gator sits deeper, not having most of his back out of the water.

Conspiracy theory would dictate that this a secondary gift from PPOT Gift Exchange.
The late arrival is no longer a dead squirrel but a live croc/alligator.

Theory 2. Somebody is looking after you coz they think there is not enough meat in your diet. The problem is you gotta kill it first before it gets you.

Theory 3. Some member has real trouble with your threads and thinks that they are too challenging.

Enjoy the hunt. If we don't hear from you we know what has happened. Each time you leave the house you have to let your next of kin know where you are going.....

A gators tail will stick up like that if it is a big gator and in shallow water. Front end will be small bulb of nose, and then eyebrows and not much else showing when they are in hangout mode.

Either take a small yapping dog for a walk along the bank - use a long leash. Or, get out there at night with a strong flashlight and see if you can see the eyes looking back at ya...
