Well, to be fair Massa is in his first season of F1 not powered by Ferrari, so it should be different for him.

Hard to tell how effective it is as no one is doing any real lap times

The Renualt engined cars are having lots of teething trouble, total laps from day 2 are,

Mercedes - 50 (199 total)
Ferrari - 43 (86 total)
Renault - 6 (11 total)

I'm sure they will get on top of everything but its not what they need to understand how to get the best from the different powered systems on the car

If those attach to the wishbones they how are they not movable aerodynamic devices?

I'm not familiar with all of the details of the rule. These are in a grey area, I think.

Team's have designed them for low drag, this has resulted in the thin suspension pieces we are familiar with in the past. However, with more power, and a rules package aimed at lowering rear downforce even more, Mclaren is taking a gamble that this will be legal, and that they can sacrifice drag for downforce in a way that pays off in laptimes.

There is a "box" so to speak that the suspension design can fit in - this fits in the "box".

I thought there was a rule that the fore-aft length of a suspension piece could be no more than 3 times its height (or something like that).

I have to admit, the V6's don't sound too bad. They don't have the high pitched scream that we've come to associate with F1, but they certainly sound "extreme" (for lack of a better description). Cool technical whine to them as well...

No wastegate on the current f1 engine, boost is controlled by the ers in the turbo.......

I miss the days when they ran v12s, v10s, v8s, all in the same season, or when you could have flat 12, v12, v8, or turbo v6, or turbo inline 4. Whatever you wanted as long as it was within the equivalent displacement rule.

That's the driver screaming, hoping his regenerative braking is going to work as intended on the way into the corner.

Watching that video... the cars sure do look slow this year. Obviously some of them are barely running but I hope they don't look like that all year. Coming out of the corners, they looked like they were on a cool-down lap.

You must of been watching cool down laps. I've seen some vids of the Merc and Ferrari engined cars and when they put their foot down its @_@.

New rules on noses, wings, and width of car have made an attempt to reduce cornering speeds, so that may take a little time to sort out.
