Pick up some Taco Bueno on the way home...

It's at least as good as any gumbo you can prep and get into the cooker in 5 minutes or less...

JR
Taco Bueno is not food

Hate them. You still have to cook some. I like a cast iron enameled dutch oven in a 300 deg oven. We'll I don't hate them. I just don't have space for one really.

If you get a crock pot, get one with a locking lid, so you can cook whatever and transport it in the car. Oblong is good, Craigster makes a good point about the ceramic insert, but I've never dropped mine.

Doing a chuck roast tomorrow. Tonight, I'll brown the roast and in the morning I'll cut up an onion put it in the bottom with some garlic and other herbs, dump to roast in, and some red wine and turn it on medium, at dinner time it will be nice and tender.

Recommend: Crock-Pot brand, large size with removable crock, +1 on the locking lid.

Don't recommend: Any model with electronic controls. One boilover and it's lunched. No need to ask me how I know. Simple Off/Low/Med/High switch is all you need.

We have this one, works great. Comes in several colors. $40.

You just don't kill enough tough old trophy game animals. Otherwise you'd cherish a crock pot. Of course you don't need one eating chicken.

Rabbits. A bit tough if you cook them like chicken, nice and tender in a slow cooker.
