New somewhat DD truck

I have been on the casual look-out for a mid 70s pick-up to use as a DD in the summer. Everything I found was either too nice to use as a truck or too far gone to use as a driver without substantial work. 2 weeks ago a 76 F150 custom with 8' bed popped up on CL.
I called the owner and made arrangments to check it out this past weekend. He kept it garaged and is the second owner--just doesn't use it anymore. Very nice guy--had a MINT 62 T-bird robin egg blue over aqua in the garage which he restored and was working on a 60-something Imperial 4-door, right next to an 85 XJS with 20K miles--ended up spending 3 hours there BSing with him and struck a deal. I still need to go pick it up, as his other cars are in front of it and the weather wasn't the best--so the pics are crammed, but all documentation, 68K miles, 360/auto, no rust holes except some pinholes in the tailgate(he incldued a brand new gate in the deal)--everything works except fuel sending unit-new brakes/lines, tires, underdash CD with original AM radio, rear slider, etc.
Not mint by any means, but solid and original and can be used as a truck--and bets of all it's a Bicentenial Edition(dealer-installed package consisting of decals, plaque, and red/white/blue interior)
I will post better pics once I pick it up (bad pun) but here are what I have for now.

That is freaking awesome. If I had the space I would absolutely have something similar, old trucks have a special charm to them. Don't change a thing!

I love it.

That truck just screems "old man".

Let them young folk look on with envy.

How are you going to get "that old man smell" out?

Somehow I imagine it smells more like gun oil and Old Spice.

I remember when those trucks came out, not the best of times for me, but I was a whole lot younger myself.

Fred,

Truck is in West Newton.

Thanks for the responses--I am a big fan of the 70s packages/vehicles(the Buick pace cars, bicentennial whatevers, Plymouth Volare Roadrunners, etc.) and plan on putting many miles on this classic.

About 40 minutes away, very possible that I have seen it before, who knows. Very cool either way.

Eric - she's a beauty! I love the bicentennial graphics and those seats are WAY COOL!

There's nothing like an original vintage classic.....especially a truck!

Great find sir - congrats!!!

Man I wish new trucks all looked like old trucks... Love the trucks from that era.

The cool thing about the old trucks is that they can still be found pretty cheaply, and it's not uncommon to find one like Eric did - old man, owned forever, kept in the garage, took it out for coffee once a week. I'd LOVE to find an old Silverado like I had in high school.

Mine was a total POS but ran like hell with a rebuilt 350 and 3.90 rear end.
