was thinking the same thing

I just discovered this thread. So, so cool; this is my idea of a dream project, although I don't quite have the level of technical know-how to do it all myself. The most difficult job I've tackled is a head gasket job on a 944 Turbo. Still, maybe some day I'll get brave. Maybe at that point I'll come back to this thread for inspiration.
Thanks for sharing this with us. |
My grandson is only 3 days old and my daughter tells me he can't come to my house until I install a pool fence. I called Pool Guarding, Katchakid, and ChildSafe…ALL $4,000!!!!
This was my new project yesterday. Easy peasy and all in for $1,387. One trip to home depot for ten 12' fence sections, drill guide, 5/8"x18" masonry bit, and 10 hours measuring, remeasuring, remeasuring again, drilling, and done! :D $4,000??? What a rip! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1447271246.jpg |

$1400 is cheap insurance. |
a 3 day old isn't getting into the pool unless someone throws them in - But yes - pool fence is good insurance.

In Australia you have to have a pool fence by law.
Loving the build by the way. Keep it up. |
Ignition is done. Need some fittings and remote oil filter mount to finish the oil system, then fab up a throttle cable connection and I'm done. Only a couple more weeks!
Hmm, upgraded my iPad and now pelican says all my pictures don't have the correct extension to post. A problem for later. |
Finally was able to drill two 5/16 holes in the stainless engine mount bracket. The damn thing was work hardened and I couldn't get a straight shot with the engine in the way. I'm embarrassed to say it took me two days! Mainly due to bits breaking and runs to Lowes.
There was no provision for another oil filter and since oil is the life blood, I want plenty of flow. This System 1 filter is reusable and has a 1" inlet with 12an fittings. I purchased a 22mm to 12an adapter from BAT that screwed right into the engine case. I now have 12an lines, through the filter and front oil cooler. I would have preferred to have the filter after the cooler, but space limitations keep it on the outlet side of the engine before the front cooler. All I have left is the clutch linkage (I can't find the clutch lever), throttle linkage (the cable is installed, but I have to fab up a bracket), and adjust the shifter. Getting there! Still can't upload pice since I upgraded iOS on my iPad. |
Gave it a good wash and wax, filled the engine and 915, and found a major oil leak in the 915 where the tail housing bolts to the gear case (what a pain). Now considering options to fix the leak, but all ready for first start. Even got a GoPro for Christmas!
