WOW, beautiful build!!
As too the pool, in FL, you use to teach your kids to swim, worked great for every, I learned to swim when my older sister tossed me in the pool.

Awesome build, awesome car. Very nice.

I'm going to make a remark I get all the time with my Slantnose (and used to get with my C4 Targa), I've never been a fan of the 904 until I saw your car.

This thing looks incredible in the Albert Blue.

I was also surprised that you were able to swap rods without splitting the case.

Mark, Looks fantastic all together. now that its in one piece you need to meet us in Blanco for the New Years drive.

You have a week to get it on the road.

I'd love to, Jamie. I'm off this week and could be ready, but I still have to figure out how to register it in Texas.

Don't they have a kit car deal in Tejas. You can do that in Cali, and the DMV is run by Satan, and I don't mean the guy that used to play hockey for the Oilers

Finally started my engine for the first time! Started right up and I set the idle at 2500 rpm. It sounds glorious, but it makes a lot of noises I'm not used to hearing. It have the normal mechanical valve clatter, but also a ticking sound that may be a loose valve. What concerns me most is the "can of rocks" noise, but it may be the fan echoing off of the firewall. It is so close I can't read the timing marks. Sorry for the crappy video. I'll take another one with the GoPro in a couple of weeks:

It's a little smokey, but smells heavenly. The wife told me I stink and need to shower before the Pro Bowl. Once I get some more time I'll set the timing and tune the carbs and try to sort out the various noises and issues. The pressure gauge is not working on the pmo regulator. I know the bypass is working as I can open the fuel tank and see/hear the fuel returning. One of the brake reservoirs is cracked on the bottom and all the fluid leaked into the frunk. Unfortunately, it soaked my receipts and paperwork, so I have to replace all (already on its way). It feels great, but will feel better once I determine (hopefully) that the noise is not one of the timing chains.

I also found this cool video of Randy Beck tearing up the track in his. I got exhausted just watching him drive!

Ask Beck if they ever started to build the 356 coupe they bought off of me?
I sold them a Canadian built F/G 356 coupe shell that they were going to use for a plug several years ago.

Very productive weekend. I got the clutch adjusted, the brakes bled, and I figured out the throttle cable with a little help from Lokar.

I'll be in Menlo Park this week, but next weekend alignment and carb tuning, then first drive!

Mark, Is this car on the road yet? We need an update. :)

jpnovak 04-26-2016 05:46 AM

Alright Mark,

You did not come to the HCR. You have not posted any updates on the build. We don't even know if the car is running and driving.

I NEED an update. :)

Mostly because I have not done anything on my 72 project in 6 weeks. I am living vicariously through you and my favorite Porsche shape of all time.

I went to an Autocross event this past Saturday and this car showed up. 1800lbs, Rs2.8 liter!!!

Back from the dead, what happened?

daepp 04-23-2024 11:10 AM

Yeah, for such a fantastic build we need a conclusion!
