Gigs and Pings, my two pet peeves...

Being an ex computer/networking nerd, this is REALLY starting to tick me off . I just don't want to hear another commercial touting Gigs of memory, or another news broadcast about the jet's black box "pinging". Where's a "Get off my lawn" sign! OK...I feel a little better now....anyone else have something utterly trivial bothering ya lately?

ps: Forgot another one....Polar Vortex....just stop it already

As mentioned in another thread CNN's breaking news when there is nothing new to report. I am so tired of that channel that I am looking for another one that is not broken.....

I gave up on CNN long ago for that very reason.

I tend not to get sick of the news or a particular news channel, because I just don't don't watch them.

The term breaking news does seem to be a bit watered down these days.....

I'll add to the polar vortex rant - The Weather Channel naming winter storms. As if some snow in January is so atypical that it requires some sort of apocalyptic name. You know, because it's never cold and snowing in the winter.

I do tune in to local news most every morning...it's raining today (mid-40s), and they've been hyping today's spring snow storm ad nauseum for about a week. The minor ice storm we had here locally a couple of weeks ago....made national news

Looook.... It's time you got on board here. We're leveraging our cross-functional synergies and if you would simply foster some teamwork it'll be a win-win mmmkay?

Data transmission in the USA is both:
1). (almost) most expensive
2). (almost) most slow.

Selfies. I am tired of the word and the act of taking your own picture with a smartphone. I have finally found a redemptive side of the selfie: people who take selfies are very lonely people, since they have no friends who are willing to take their picture for them!

To add to other overused tech terms:
- The Cloud. (It isn't magic - behind that phrase are the same computers, storage and network that was before -- it's just a nicer way of saying "OUTSOURCED.")

- Any and all text abbreviations (lol, brb, c u l8tr...etc).

- People who use the auto signature feature in emails that includes the device they used (ie: Sent from my iPhone 5S, or Sent from my Samsung Galaxy 4S). Whoopdie freakin' do - you have a fancy smartphone. Contrats, and welcome to the modern tech world.

- Speaking of texting -- people who will check their smartphones when I'm having a conversation with them! That is just rude.

- Not using a hands-free device when driving. There really isn't any excuse for that.

- PC Load letter.

One should look into "Named Storm Deductables" in their ins. policies.
That might give a little insight into naming storms.

In the SONAR sense isn't ping being used in the correct form? The name of the TCP\IP command was borrowed from SONAR.
