IRL cars now sound better than F1 !

I watched the IRL race yesterday and it dawned on me that the IRL cars now sound better than the F1 cars ! Anyone else agree ?

Didn't see the IRL race, but I did notice that the F1 pace car sounds better than the F1 race cars.

I don't care how they explain it, the new F1 sounds are terrible. And BTW, IndyCar is a spec series made up of hohum cars with hohum drivers.

I also noticed yesterday while watching the St Pete race that none of the cars are sponsored by beer companies. Most were companies that I never heard of.

Holy Carp!! I'm glad that I went in 2012. I hadn't heard the cars this year. That about made me cry.

Well, if you want to feel better...

To me ALL of these cars sound fantastic in their own way, but the scream of the modern car makes the hair on my neck stand up.

To me, the sound is a big part of the experience. I was seriously considering going to Austin this year, now I'm not at all motivated. I wish they would shift their focus from being green to just being fast, because typically being environmentally friendly isn't very exciting.

They may sound better than F1 but the cars look horrible. The last IndyCar race I went to was Mid-Ohio in 2006 or 2007. They were still using the last generation cars (with the higher side-pods) but still looked good. I probably won't see another race at any track until the car design changes and they start looking like open-wheel cars again.

I didn't catch either race but I wouldn't blame the turbo.... I remember back to the turbos 4 bangers and they sounded pretty cool.

you are correct but sadly...the indy cars are now actually better looking than the new f1 cars.

f1 cars have simply become the nastiest looking machines on the track

As I watched the safety car circulate on the track during the F1 qualifying rain delay last Saturday I realized it sounded a LOT better than the F1 cars!

I **loved** going to the races in your former home town of Long Beach. The concussive sounds of the motors ricocheting off the buildings and under the pedestrian bridges was incredible.
