Car identification?

Looking for help on identifying a car from a crappy surveillance video.

That could be anything.

Close as I can come is mid size SUV.

Trailblazer could be as correct as Pathfinder.

My first thought was a large square SUV, with extra large front and tail lights, blacked out windows, and light colored paint probably white.

However, there is a distinct curvature in the roof line which seems to taper at the back, more like a Prius.

The front seems too short and it tall overall to be an outback or other type station wagon.

Taurus Wagon is the first impression I got too, and it looks like it's got the roof rack. But as I look at the entire shot, one of the reasons it looks like the Taurus is because the roof line and rack has that rounded-off egg-shaped look, and I'm beginning to wonder if the vehicle in your footage is that shape, or if the camera lens is rounding everything because it has a slight 'fisheye" configuration.

The road edge the vehicle is on looks curved... and not in a natural way. Is that road that curved in real life?

Edit: I just noticed that the edge of the building in the lower left of the photos is curved... so there is definitely a fisheye thing going on.

I enlarged it a bit and lightened it up in an effort to see if I could figure out that horizontal line on the passenger side down low that is lighter.

1. It could be light reflecting off the surface of the road from the left side of the vehicle because it is higher off the ground than a Taurus Wagon should be. But I don't think that's what it is because it doesn't line up with the shadow of the left side of the car at the rear, underneath the bumper.

2. It looks like there is something bright to the right of the vehicle in or on the edge of that grass area that could be reflecting that horizontal line onto the vehicle's lower body panel. If you draw a line from the light on that pole on the other side of the vehicle to the light area on the edge of the grass, it should be obvious that the reflection would go onto the right side of the vehicle in that lower panel.

So my guess is that it's a car and not an SUV with the light shining underneath it.

You could perform some tests with different vehicles. It looks like the vehicle is almost exactly in the center of that "lane," too... judging by where the left rear tire's silhouette is in comparison with where the front tire seems to be (in relation to the edges of the road).

That was fun. Let us know what you come up with.

Can you post the actual video? It may be easier to identify that way.

You need that magic software all the CSI and cop shows have.

Heck they could read the tag number and identify the driver with the magic CSI TV software. I saw one show that took the video from a ATM and they read the tag number from a car across the street!

One thing for sure you don't need a mouse with that software. You just POUND on the keyboard and never hit the backspace key!

Send that image to Hollywood - they could get you a readable license plate with just two clicks of the mouse.

After watching the video coming and going, I'm thinking subaru outback...

those roof rails look pretty defined, and to much curvature to roofline to be a pickup, or even most suv's.

one frame of it leaving had a decent shot or rear glass, looked like it wrapped around, taurus wagon had a bean shaped window...

I'm thinking 2004ish outback.

(didn't watch the vid. It would take hours on this junk computer infested with script errors)

I'm gravitating towards Prius, or small hatchback lookalike, based on pics only.
I was fooled at first by the size perspective, but the person is standing on the curb/sidewalk.

-Light underneath means higher clearance.
-Curved roof profile which is tapering at the back.
-Pic#2: Big flat square spoiler with sharp rear window lines. A-pillar to roof is sharp cut and looks about right.

Only problem is the hood still looks too long.
