Hoax or real deal ? Flight 370

This story popped up on Facebook last night. Ya' wanna believe it for at least a few reasons but there's nothing about it on any major media..and yes, it was April 1 yesterday...

Freelance journalist: 'Hijacked flight 370 passenger sent photo from hidden iPhone tracing back to secret U.S. military base Diego Garcia' | Intellihub News

When they can't find any sign of the plane, it means any story could be true....fake or not.

Think about it for a second. A 777 is 50+' longer than a B-52 so it would be kind of hard to hide on a island the size of Diego Garcia. If it landed there one of the 3,000 people that work there (Marines, civilians and British Army) Might notice a huge plane that everyone in the world is looking for and take a picture of it. There are also the weekly flights of personal that man the supply ships stationed there (I counted 6 when I looked at it on Google Earth) who might notice a 777 with Malaysian Airlines written on the side parked at the side of the runway.

So what did you do there on weekends/time off? Drink and/or go fishing?

Any good stories? I wonder what people do when they are truly in the middle of nowhere.

The Brit club if I remember correctly was that little outdoor hut where you could get a beer or cutty sark. Not much else to offer...

Ah yes, good old 'Dodge' . I spent 2 weeks there when I was in the Navy flying S-3 Vikings back in 1990. Awesome place, we spent our days windsurfing and sailing, and our nights drinking beer at the O Club or the Expat club mentioned above.

My BOQ room was 50 yards off of the beach, and there was a hammock strung between 2 palm trees on the beach. And across the lagoon there was an abandoned coconut plantation and town, with buidlings, an old jail, and a crashed PBY Catalina on the beach. It was truly a tropical paradise. I'll have to dig my old pictures out one of these days and post them up.

This was before Desert Shield, so it was pretty quiet empty. I heard that all changed once we invaded Kuwait and B-52s showed up.
