Spent some time on Bimmerforums OT - oh boy...

Spent way more time than I should have on bimmerforums off topic. What a waste of time! For the most part just a bunch of idiotic postings from people referring to themselves as 'ballers' whatever the heck that is. Reminded me of some of the ricer forums I've seen in the past. I'm done. It's nice to be back amongst people with a little intelligence.

I think many of the BMW forums (not all, and I own an E46) are populated by know-it-alls and adolescents. It is nice to know there are places like Pelican around.

That place is like accidentally stepping into an 18 and older club when you're looking for a quiet hotel lounge.

I was pretty happy to get out of that place, once I sold my last BMW. You could see the idiots moving in and taking up residence over the course of a few years.

I was on the e36 side because I have a couple and that's probably one of the worst due to the low cost of getting into one. Yeah, sounds like a bunch of 18-24 year olds mostly...

Lol. The cheaper the model, the more morons are in residence.

Want to really have some laughs? Visit a Miata forum. "I lowered my car for $5. Used hose clamps on the springs." Yes, I am not kidding.

VWVortex also took a similar path...hell maybe it was always this way. I was active for quite a while when I had my 2002 MKIV GTI VR6. Some very good guys doing some cool things to their cars, followed by obnoxious internet tuff guy BS.

Back when I had my 2006 BMW E46 M3, I sorta noticed a lot of "punchiness" amongst some of the members on a few the B-car boards that I lurked...some short fuses. It was tolerable then. It has likely gotten much worse as E36 and E46 prices have lowered to a point of making pretty cool cars available to "first car shoppers".

I don't want to bad mouth bimmerforums as a whole because they are helpful on the regular boards - but the OT board is useless! I've not tried PP's BMW board bit I think I will take a look-see.

My thoughts exactly, I have no idea what they are saying, and I don't care.

There are some good laughs over there though. I only post when I want to find a thread easier.

I've been helping my son work on his Civic, and the Honda forums are horrible....and I'm not talking the OT, but the technical forums! Yes, we have a pretty good community here.....

Noun
baller (plural ballers)
1. (slang) One who plays basketball; a basketballer.
I want them aspiring to be scientists and engineers, doctors and teachers, not just ballers and rappers.
(2009 July 17, Sheryl Gay Stolberg, “Obama Tells Fellow Blacks: ‘No Excuses’ for Any Failure”, New York Times)

2. (slang) One who lives an extravagant, money-driven lifestyle.
Did you see that car? He’s such a baller.

3. Person who forms fruits and other food items into bite-sized balls.

4. A person employed in the pornographic film industry.

5. Ben Baller

Even the Audi tech forums aren't all that good. When I had my S4, I'd go looking for some information and found the forums to be full of questions such as, "How dark should I tint my windows?", or my personal favorite, "If I turn my seat heaters all the way up, will it make my GF horny?"
