Another Mass Stabbing.

The worst mass murder in our cities history. The accused is the son of a 30+ year police veteran. 5 people in their late teens and early 20s died.
I can't imagine how the family and friends of these young people will cope with such a loss.

I wonder what could drive a young man on the edge of a fulfilling/promising life and career do such a horrible thing?

Horrific, and simply unreal that a "normal" and promising college kid can do something like this. Shooting someone is somewhat detached, but stabbing seems so cold blooded and personal. It takes a sick individual to do such a thing. Prayers to those impacted.

Sad story. Looks like he just went off. Don't think it is a copycat though it could be.

Did anyone notice the name of community was Brentwood.

I can't imagine the rage it would take to continue slashing at people until you were stopped. How, as a parent, can your mind learn to accept this tragedy, and more importantly to somehow forgive him ?

As a parent, you always love your kid, no matter how ****ed up they might be. I don't think my kids could ever do anything to make me stop loving them. Be extremely disappointed, sure, but still love 'em. As a parent of one of the kids that was stabbed, I could never forgive this guy--NEVER.

The rage...for some people, once that rage monster is let out of its cage, it doesn't stop, and as you're doing something like this action, the monster is further fueled by adrenaline. I have experience with rage, as I had severe anger issues as a kid. I had a few fights in my youth where I probably would have ended up in jail for a very long time if friends hadn't dragged me away. Once that veil of red went over my eyes, there was no stopping myself. Took many years to get that under control.

This stabbing was certainly a tragedy. I feel deeply for all those involved and affected. The healing will take a long time.

I really wonder how much our medicated society plays into these events. Almost every mass shooting, bombing, etc is committed by someone undergoing mental health treatment and prescribed with personality altering medication. It only seems to be getting worse, I see many parents content to medicate their kids as opposed to dealing with a behavior issue. When your behavior is regulated with drugs, what happens when your body eventually builds up an immunity and makes them less effective? Or when the patient stops taking the drugs, for whatever reason?

I know that in some cases medication is the only solution. But in many instances, are we simply treating the symptoms and not the root cause?

Also, this kid majored in psych. My sister has a PhD in psych. All of her friends are psych majors. And I tell you, there isn't a more effed up group of people than psych majors - except maybe the Jackson family.

Who in health care would give out information like this - I call BS. Perhaps they are setting the grounds for an insanity defence. Or, he is at the right age for schizophrenia.

Anyway you slice it very sad.

So this goes to show ya, ya don't need a gun to create mayhem. This also shows ya that the problem is not with guns, nor knives but a human propensity for violence.

This observation is not a pro 2ND observation...BUT AN OBSERVATION ABOUT THE HUMAN CONDITION....so let the anti-gun crowd think about that one for a moment...and they should be feeling foolish about barking up the wrong tree for all these years.

Does anyone think that it is any different?

Yesterday a man was stabbed to death with a SCREWDRIVER in front of a store that I used to frequent. I stopped going there a short time ago because I didn't like how I was treated, and felt it was hostile territory.

Maybe someone thought he had a screw loose and they were trying to fix it...

What part of that article leads to your comment? I have read nothing about 'medication' to date. I have no idea what he was taking, if anything, but I have not seen anything in writing.
