16-year-old stowaway survives in wheel well of Hawaiian Airlines flight

Don't know how he survived.....

16-year-old stowaway survives in wheel well of Hawaiian Airlines flight | KHON2

Airlines analyst Peter Forman:

Quote:
The odds of a person surviving that long of a flight at that altitude are very remote, actually. I mean, you are talking about altitudes that are well above the altitude of Mt. Everest. And temperatures that can reach 40 degrees below zero. A lot of people would only have useful consciousness for a minute or two at that altitude. For somebody to survive multiple hours with that lack of oxygen and that cold is just miraculous. I’ve never heard of anything like that before.
The boy told authorities he passed out as the plane ascended, then regained consciousness about an hour before landing.

But the real question is....

I'm calling b.s. on that kid stowing away in the wheel well. Would have been dead long before landing.

I'm struggling with that as well. Even if (big if) there is enough room for a near adult to fit in the gear bay with the landing gear retracted, even if that cavity is somewhat insulated/heated by adjacent equipment, it is not a pressurized area. At 35000-40000 ft you have only seconds of consciousness, and will be dead in minutes.

Apparently they have airport video of him crawling into the wheel well in CA, and emerging in Hawaii. Amazing story!

And no screaming babies in the seat behind. We flew back from Portland to DFW with a little screaming monster kid screaming and crying for her baba. From the time we were wheels up to wheels down. At the airport waiting for the connection the little monster was sound asleep. I wanted so much to go scream I found your babab and wake her up but I figured I would be arrested. I almost cried when I saw them get on the same connection we were getting on. Sure enough at wheels up she was crying again.

I had a mouse stowaway and run up along side my seat, open cockpit, scared the crap out of me, rolled the plane upside down to dump him out!

Now speculation is that it may not have gotten that cold in the wheel well.

Initial stats were -30.

Now it's being said it could have been as warm as 30 - if you want to call that warm.

Why go from CA to Hawaii? That does not make any sense. He was not even changing countries, and it does not look like CA is a place so horrible one should risk their life to leave. Or maybe it is .

How did he not freeze/ suffocate/ explode/ get crushed/ fall out or get blown out as the landing gear extended? I have a very hard time believing the story as reported. Some information has got to be missing.

No mention of the threat aspect - that someone could get into a wheel well of an airliner undetected.

And yet we have concurrent coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings one year ago.

Plus a missing Boeing 777 airliner.

And yet.....no mention of the TSA's breach in security.....

Typical mainstream media like a heard of sheep......bahhhhhh.......
