Jeez, what's going on? Fat booties in Rio

I guess you have to go to South Orange County, CA or Colorado to spot thin women these days. They are gone from Rio. What's going wrong with the world and where will it stop? We were in New Orleans a few days ago... OMG, I couldn't believe it. Talk about the trailer trash capital of the world. I used to think it was the proliferation of cheap and easy fast food, but now I'm beginning to suspect its ubiquitous government social programs.

I blame the Kardashians

Fat kids were rare, and likely had an endocrine disorder when I was a kid. I suppose that now, they are likely to have an endocrine disorder too, now it is common and the cause and effect is reversed.

I agree I like women who are not overweight. Not sure whether women are overweight due to genetics or eating too much. I suspect the latter. It is to the point where if you are trim and buff then you are considered abnormal. ie . sick/unhealthy.

You're right.... I was in China recently and the women are thin. And they dress nicely. Wonder how long that will last.

Some women are big boned, you can't deny that. And I don't like emaciated looking women. Some curves are just fine with me.

But, sadly, yes. For many people it has become perfectly acceptable to be a giant lard ass.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in orthopedics, I can vouch that there is no such phenomenon as being "big boned."

Motion Rio is seriously overrated these days when it comes to pretty girls. In fact, the whole "all girls in Brazil are hot" is a myth and probably always has been. There are pretty girls everywhere in this world.

If you want to see some pretty girls get on a plane at Santos Dumont and head for the beaches in Florianopolis. It's much better down there. And much safer.

Is it too much food or just poor quality food?

A few decades ago meals were made at home with fresh ingredients and three equal portions of veggies, protein, and a starch.

I was fortunate you visit Hawaii before the fast food invasion... now the Hawaii locals are all "it is great! Soooo convenient!" (never mind rampant obesity and diabetes in native peoples)

And let me be first to say isn't it great that we men are immune and not getting fat!!!

You know what I meant. Some women are naturally going to have wider hips and less delicate physical features, even when they are at a healthy body weight.

Most women where I live are of slim to normal weight. Of course, being Portland, they aren't in bikinis. But plenty of yoga wear and skinny jeans.

You would think that diabetes would scare the heck out of these overweight people.

I cannot imagine being a doc and telling so many overweight folks that you must lose weight or die prematurely.Or perhaps the obese don't go see the doc until it is too late....G.

Okay, that is the quote of the year.

I saw a foot film of the actor that was giant metal teeth guy in the Bond flicks. He was pretty big boned. His first proximal phalanx looked like a big first metatarsal. Or crabfoot lady, with the two big misshapen toes, rather than 5 or 6 normal looking ones. Trippy looking radiograph.

Appears to induce diabetes, lets put it in everything.

Hey, where did all these fat, diabetic people come from?

HD, that was pretty funny, you have to admit.

The fine, practically angelic bone structure of Gene Tierney vs the coarse, horse face troglodyte that is Darryl Hannah, is that what you have in mind? Maybe big girl with
man hands, built like Mike Tyson, minus the bizarre tattoos vs gymnast.

Plenty of fit women/people in NYC...the really large folks are often from out of town.

We had a cousin come in from Mississippi who stayed with us for a little while. She said "people here are so thin" and we replied "ummmm no...people in Mississippi are big"

That is one factor, another is US wheat which was modified almost 50 years ago by exposure to radiation to develop mutant hybrids that out produce European wheat 10 fold per acre. This stuff is so messed up not even God knows what it's really doing us.

Brazil and China are now big US wheat importers, watch their bodies inflame/expand just like ours.

USW: Trade Activities
Quote:
A Reliable Supply
Brazil imports more wheat than any other country except Egypt. Its primary supplier Argentina has an advantage over U.S. wheat supplies because it enjoys duty-free access to its Brazilian trading partner. But Argentina has not been able to provide a reliable supply and USW works hard to keep Brazilian millers up-to-speed on U.S. wheat value and quality. It's a strategy that is paying big dividends this year.

USW: Trade Activities
Quote:
Big China Sales
USW has worked with millers, bakers, food processors and government officials in the People’s Republic of China for more than 25 years. The seemingly relentless increase in Chinese demand for commodities extends to imports of high-quality U.S. wheat, which jumped in 2011/12 and exceeded 29.3 million bushels of HRS, SW, SRW and HRW in 2012/13.
http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/2012/02/wheat-is-not-genetically-modified/
Quote:
Modern wheat has been hybridized (crossing different strains to generate new characteristics; 5% of proteins generated in the offspring, for instance, are not present in either parent), backcrossed (repeated crossing to winnow out a specific trait, e.g., short stature), and hybridized with non-wheat plants (to introduce entirely unique genes). There are also chemical-, gamma-, and x-ray mutagenesis, i.e., the use of obnoxious stimuli to induce mutations that can then be propagated in offpspring. This is how BASF’s Clearfield wheat was created, for example, by exposing the seeds and embryos to the industrial chemical, sodium azide, that is highly toxic to humans.
