There are many reasons many people are "on edge."

The country has all the signs of going down the tubes with no, or very little, apparent prospects of turning the tide. We are deeply in debt and in recent decades, all most of our leaders want to do is kick the can down the road. And any time somebody comes up with a plan to cut spending in an attempt to merely begin to address the problem, they are castigated for being... what's the word... uh... draconian. So, then they turn back to spending like drunken sailors... they're acting so wacky, it's like a giant asteroid is headed this way and will end us in the next year or two... but they're the only ones who know about it.

Many people are noticing how their money gets eaten up by higher and higher prices.

Tinpot dictators all over the planet are getting nukes and puffing their chests out.

Everyone is upset that they haven't found MH 370 yet.

And I could go on and on and it would just make many of us more and more edgy.

But I think the main reason people are grumpy is that it's been almost 10 years since Ray Charles died, and it's just beginning to hit 'em that there's not gonna be any more new music from him. That's enough to make anybody grumpy... and sad.

So, in the interest of peace, love, and harmony, give one or both of these a listen... if doesn't make you smile, tap your foot, get a little choked up at the same time, and make your day or night a little better... well, I can't help you.

Perhaps I am a rather selective thread reader or just don´t get it, but I think this place has turned nicer. :)

I think the reason why some subset of this place is "on edge" is that some subset of the folks here are getting older - in a grouchy, bitter, and testy way.

The good news about that though john, is the next stage is where they forget they are grouchy old men. ;)

I think Wayne should just send every member some laxatives as it appears there are many heads getting filled with poopy and it needs released.

Put on your big boy pants and accept it for what it was. A typical OT thread where one guy wants to brag about something he owns…and get a reaction. Give it an innocent title that would make you expect to see a lady and her prized tomatoes...that is anything but...

Don't pose the question (even implied) if you don't want the answer. The OP kept fishing till he got the predicted response. Someone else posted a photo of their wife and he posted "I can top that"...and then posted a zoom in bust shot. How could it help but go downhill from there?

Threads like this are sorta like when your wife asks "do these pants make my butt look big?" You can't comment in any way other than positive without being an ass...and the OP thinks he has proved something. Most tell him what a lucky guy he is and strokes his ego. If he really wanted to know (honesty), he should have posted her photo incognito in one of the random boob or butt threads that are so common here and found out what people really thought of her "augmentation."

Once again, if the guy enjoys posting half naked photos of his wife and she is ok with it...let them have their fun (the same for those who enjoyed ogling her), however; getting all butt hurt when everyone does not necessarily agree is not necessarily called for either. Strangely, the OP seemed to take it better than many others here. He was still taunting until the end.

Just to make it clear, my point of this thread had zero to do with 126's wife thread. Secondly, I never even remotely mentioned anything about PARF in it either. It also has zero to do with PARF.

It also has nothing to do with anyone being "thin skinned" or "whiney". It was just an observation that some guys on here seem to be on edge lately, and ruin a otherwise simple thread. That is all.

Yes...but it was taken in that direction by seveal others...as usual. Blame issues elsewhere and unpleasant introspection is never necessary. It is always those "other guys" in PARF...who are not here to defend themself.

It is not just here that people are tense.

Things are tight, the bloom is off the rose, so to speak, it is making people stress out.

This is where a lot of people come to vent. Shaun, I don't think you posting here less would improve the place, generally. Paul went off to play pool, Billy is rollin' in a shark with some exotic dancers he probably met on a job. Have not thought about them for a while to tell the truth, but the manner in which you invoke their memory nicely illustrates Vinny's point, wouldn't you agree?

There has been a noticeable increase in harshness to this place. I don't know if it's because of the late Spring, global warming or pollen season but I know there is a election coming up and if people don't lighten up there will be a bunch more heart attacks happening.

The stakes are higher.

Most educated working folks know the fundamental change barry o' is working towards will spell the end of the US as a relevant economic, military and moral power in this world. It's hard to watch.
