He's referring to the middle ages, which was a trying time, and did not have dragons, but can be compared to the context of GoT...

I enjoy it. It's all fantasy. To me the gore is no were near the stuff in those horror series on HBO. And there is no vulgar language.

Those that cant handle the show are free to move along to the Disney Channel now. Im ready for some more hacking, skinning, head crushing, etc. And more naked young women.

The extreme violence and gore is what makes it realistic. That era of humankind was not exactly all peace, love and flowers...

Gacook was not claiming GoT uses violence and gore to depict the dragon era, which he obviously knows not to be real. Instead, Gacook was stating that GoT uses violence and gore to depict the middle-ages, which was real, and is roughly the context in which GoT takes place, i.e. knights, castles, horses, swords, wizards (although fictitious), etc...

I agree with Gacook that the middle-ages was a trying time for humanity, and the violence and gore helps to make its depiction, and thus GoT, realistic for viewers.

Thanks for the back-up. I'm pretty sure Mr.Bonus was being intentionally obtuse, however

HMMM. Shakespeare has an adult audience. Game of Thrones has an audience of ''adults''.

Not sure I follow your logic here.

I read Shakespeare as a teen. For his time, his plays were pretty risque/controversial, though quite excellent.

Game of Thrones is intended for adults. There's lots of sex, lots of violence, lots of "not nice stuff." It is a fantastical story that really depicts the gritty side of human nature and politics. The shows are good; the books are quite excellent.

Shakespeare? No, but certainly "good" in its own light.
