How about them Spurs ??
I know the subject of the NBA is not real popular on this forum but after living 35+ years in San Antonio it is hard not to be a Spurs fan. For those who don't follow basketball: in the just finished NBA finals the Spurs took down all the names of the vaunted Miami Heat, took them out behind the woodshed and kicked their collective a$$ down the road in a display of basketball that was amazing to watch.
It was their 5th NBA title since 1999. The Spurs are considered by most to be the best run organization in all of professional sports and their roster is maybe an indication of why. They go all over the world to find the best players that will fit their system. Only 6 of their players are actually US born, the others: Australia - 2 France - 2 Italy - 1 Canada - 1 Brazil - 1 Argentina - 1 US Virgin Islands - 1 Kind of amazing I think.

Jack - As a Clippers fan who was disappointed this year, again, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Spurs throttle the Heat the way they did. Talk about TEAM play, they certainly showed how to do it.

I'd love to see this team come back and make another run next year. They were a joy to watch.

I generally cant stand an NBA but I try to catch the Spurs in the playoffs. Talk about fun to watch. Defense, passing, find the open man, good ball movement.... exactly what I've always liked about basketball.

11 guys/11 played/ 11 scored...
Pop doesn't tolerate prima donnas.. even Rodman behaved himself while playing for the Spurs.. see them a the grocery store all the time.. amazing really.. no fuss ...everybody just leaves them alone.. and after the game... nothing burned down... even the gangs made sure their boys were under control.. I watched despite not liking the NBA. The Spurs are diametrically opposed to the Heat, I loved watching them win by playing team basketball. Great coach, great players, great TEAM. Not just a couple of superstars.

IMO, in that series, the Spurs put on the greatest display of team basketball in the history of the sport. |

The Thunder were their biggest obstacle to the finals this year and will surely be the same next year. A great series it will be if it happens.

I have been a Spur's fan for over 30 years and still have a house in SA. Last year's game 6 was worst than a double kick in the groin. My wife was nice enough to give me a hall pass(Father's Day) for Sunday's game. My buddy and I made the trip to SA.
The atmosphere was electric and nothing better than beating the 2 time defending champs and exorcizing last years defeat. We do have a great team & organization top to bottom. SA fan's are so use to partying especially during Fiesta. So, you won't see us rioting, burning cars, etc. This one is special due to Duncan's legacy and outstanding team play from everyone. I got to relive the moments the last few days since I taped the game. The cherry on top is that my buddy and I are in several shots in the backdrop. Drunken stupor of happiness! Go Spurs Go!

If the Thunder had to loose it helps a little to know it was a class team like the Spurs. It was nice seeing them whip Miami.

The way the Spurs were playing not even Jordan with his Space Jam team could beat them.
