I have a couple friends doing it for the first time this year. One on Ducati panigale and the other on a Aprilia svx 550 supermoto. Reports are its really fun and really cold in the very early morning practices. Guy Martin is giving it a go on a old school GSXR set up like a street fighter and turbo. Crazy mofo.

And Martin's bike. That is crazy but the turbo clearly makes sense. Supposedly a '91 Gixer with 300+ hp!

Those supermoto / hypermotard bikes are probably great for the tight hairpins.. but that is all. A GP bike has double the horsepower and that is what really will matter. Guy Martin build that turbo bike himself. If it holds together and runs properly... he will be the one to watch. Not to dump on the other riders... but I'm pretty sure Guy has them sacked in the road racing talent department. Unless John Guinness shows up.

Thank god for motorcycle racing - we still have un-homogenized characters like Guy Martin.

Thanks for the vid. That boy sure likes to hug that right edge, eh? Sweaty palms watching him be that close. His Hyper makes good power - uphill, 24 mph to 103 mph in less than 5 secs (I counted).

Crashed after the finish line? Am I reading that right? I see how it could happen, but man, that is harsh to the extreme....

I'm waiting to hear from Eric to make sure the info is correct. Tough day for us club racing moto guys. Another racer didn't get to go home at Gateway in STL today.
