I hate....

...fire ants.

More than mosquitos.

Such aggressive little ****ers and their bite hurts more the second day.

Ankle is itching so bad I'm tempted to go slap some 40 grit onto the power sander and go to town.

Oh I know them well...

Put your foot under the tap with the absolute hottest water that you can stand. Almost scalding in temperature. Keep your foot in there for a few minutes and then you will have relief for a few hours. Thn rub some neosporin and take a benadryl and you are dandy.

I carry one of these in my work truck and have another in my home for just such scenarios.

The key is to get the afflicted area sprayed pronto.

Really does help!

Apparently mosquitoes are more deadly than fireants as global warming has promoted more deadly viruses to be carried in mosquitoes in the US. West Nile virus plus ?.....G

Some rubbing alcohol (or drinking kind) rubbed on the bites will take away the itch for a little while.

Of course, if you use the drinking kind, you can always apply it internally as well....

Benadryl is about it. You could try making a paste out of meat tenderizer and apply that, helps with bee stings, but that is a different toxin, not sure if it would work on formic acid. Actually, on second thought, I don't think fire ants use formic acid.

Ever notice that they get all over your leg then it seems like one of them signals all the others to bite you at the same time! Sneaky little bastards:/

Not to worry, the "Rasberry Ants" are moving in and will drive out the fire-ants... and apparently making us long for the good old days of fire ants.....

Find the bed and sprinkle some grits around the area. Dead in a day. I use lots of grits in our blueberry field. I was quite surprised that it works. Cheapest grits you can find.
