I'm pretty sure that the Scion, Subaru, Mazda, Hyundai won't check the luxury box for the missus.

A 911 would be great.

I found this last night, yowza, hold me back.

2003 Porsche 911 Carrera

This is surprisingly low miles for a 1999
1999 Porsche 911 Coupe

2007 Porsche 911 48k miles

2004 Porsche 911 Carrera

2003 Porsche 911 Carrera

Just have to put it out there that I personally can't do one car. It is no real secret that I have a fleet, but one of them is a late 90s Buick that had 45,000 miles on it when I bought it for 3,000 dollars American. You buy a Porsche of ANY KIND , and you are not downsizing (but don't say that too loud). Sooner or later you are going to thank me profusely for suggesting a practical ''classic''. It will be right after your ''911'' Carrera winds up in the shop for three weeks, with a problem that takes about 6 hours to fix.

You know this.

Two cars.

I'd say if you want a Swiss Army Knife of cars, the GTi or Focus ST are hard to beat.

I have a Genesis sedan. I had three BMWs prior to it. I loved my BMWs but I like to say my Genesis is similar in many respects to my 740iL, except all the buttons work and there are no rattles after 2 years. I can't say that about the Bimmers. I haven't driven a Genesis Coupe but the Veloster Turbo was a hoot, so I imagine a Gen Coupe with the 6-spd and the 3.8 V6 is no slouch.

Do it!

Good luck...

300HP and 10year/100K warranty... all modern cars look the same so just debadge the car and no one will know you are driving a automobile from Korea.

No, appliances can be delivered.

Dogs (2, smallish), groceries, the missus, that's what I'm interested in hauling.

OK, checked the BB value of the two vehicles that we currently have. 2001 Explorer XLT, in great shape, runs great, comfy, AC, etc.... $1700. I'm sure we could get 2500-3000 due to the shape it's in and that everything works and it's the XLT, but that was enough for me to convince the missus that it's better to just keep that one with minimal insurance as a backup than to sell it. So now I'm looking at 2 seaters or 4 seaters, $20-40k.

I've found a 2001 911 turbo in town, a couple 996 Carreras, and a couple of Caymans (Caymen? ). One or two of the Carreras have sport seats and one of the Caymans an S has sport seats which is something that I think i would like, but I'll know for sure when I sit in them. Sport Seats aren't deal killers. Miles range from 11k to 48k, years range from '99 to 2010, I think.

How will you handle it if both of you are leaving the hacienda, going in different directions (neither is a "haul" run), and both of you want to take the Porsche?

Coin flip?

in that price range, the higher anyway, you can find both 996TTs and 997s.

As much as I enjoy the 996, I think the Boxster/Cayman is a more fun car to drive. You can also get a newer and lower mileage example as compared to a 996/997.

VAG products are hit/miss, I had an older S8 that was superb.
This has been my experience as well. My German made S4 was an amazing vehicle. The Mexican made Jetta was clearly the worst vehicle I've ever owned (and I've had beauties like a Bronco II and early 90's civic to compare against).

Steve,

For reliability the Acura TL or any of the Acura models are extremely reliable. I have had my TL for 2 1/2 years with no issue other than a filter issue. Warranty on the cars are 4 years/50,000miles and 100,000 and 6yr/70000mile powertrain warranty.
I get as high as 31-32mpg at 80 and overall mileage of 20-21mpg. Quiet, comfortable, 280HP V6 with 6 speed trans. I have owned Honda's for a long time. These are better in every way. Resale value is great. I have leased mine and am getting signed up for a TLX today. Working on selling my current TL.

We'll only be about 2.5 miles from my work and about 1/4 mile from a whole foods
My first thought was it would be a nice walk or quick bike ride. I guess that doesnt make sense.
