LB is the second most common of the dementia types following Alzheimer's. Instead of a ten years slide it's a several year roller coaster nightmare until becoming a shell and then gone.
It morphs into a variety of symptoms which could possibly be from other distant causes such as vascular or nervous or hormones. Confusion, shakes, depression, paranoia, etc.

My dad got up middle of the night and wrapped himself around a pole to hold the house up. One of many incidences.
He swam competitive water polo much of his life and ended up using a cpap to breathe at night. Some masks did not seal or made noise keeping everyone awake.
REM is essential for health. Yet hospitals still wake up patients hourly when they are trying to sleep.

Drugs for other other diseases might even make Lewy Bodies worse.

Don't take the first doctor's final professional determination as absolute fact..
If it's not working, then something is still wrong.

This person decided to get off the ride earlier. Mr. Williams was not diagnosed properly until after death. The medical field is still learning but now there are better tests and experimental drugs.
Plaque in the brain cells. There is research into it.
There are also support groups, and practical advice options, for those close who dedicate most of their time caring for a loved one.

That disease is Lewy body dementia, with which the actor was diagnosed in October 2014 following an autopsy on his brain. “A few months before he passed, he was given a Parkinson’s (disease) diagnosis,”

Lewy body dementia has more than 40 symptoms that can randomly appear and disappear, Schneider Williams said. Categorically, the signs include impaired thinking, fluctuations in attention, problems with movement, visual hallucinations, sleep disorders, behavioral and mood issues, and changes in bodily functions such as the ability to control urinating.

That applies to just about everybody I know.

Strange,
According to a Robin Williams biography show I watched a while back,
Neither he or his kid's mothers wanted custody of them and they were were left to be raised by their nanny for most of their younger lives
with Robin popping in occasionally. Like a few times a year.
They reconciled when the kids got older but if the show was accurate, he was as far from father of the year as a person could get.

The show might have been Robin Williams: when the laughter stops.
Still to be verified.

This person died from Lewy Bodies.

I didn't get his rapid-fire jokes when I was younger because maybe the cathode tube tv speaker was turned down. Some Hollywood comedian. Whatever. Tangential. I still don't understand the Mork character he had to endure. It's not about that.

Dementia might soon be affecting all of those with parents still living. And then us.

I was just reading a article about his 1st appearance on Happy Days, Ronny Howard and Henry winkler were worried that they would have to cancel the upcoming episode, as Robin Williams hadn’t shown up to the rehearsals that week. But once Robin showed up and his skills of improvise completely blew everyone away and they felt like they were in the presence of greatness.

Once saw old Glen Campbell w/family at a local folk music festival.

Bam Bam Bam. He knocked out those tunes strong for an old man.

Then it came to talking about something...and thinking...and...someone thanked him and took over the mic.

There is a part in that Robin Williams "Retreat" video where he bows his head and seems to reflect on what he is seeing. It chokes me up, as here he is, not understanding what is going on, but he seems to understand that it is important and that the men and women he is with are so comfortable that they allow him in. That part strikes me as very intimate, they were that accepting of his presence.

I saw him on the tonight show with Jay Leno, and during commercials he had everybody in the building crying with laughter. I really miss him, I think the world was a bit better with him in it.

I remember his appearance on Happy Days as Mork. The Fonz had to do battle with him using his magic thumb. I remember wondering who he was, as he was super funny. I was happy when he had a spin off series as Mork & Mindy. Unfortunately the writers just pushed the plot into stupid areas and killed the show.

Yep, already past my parents experience and I am next on the conveyor belt. I am 62 and am starting to recognize some near term memory loss and misplacing things more often.

Robin Williams was a genius. Was difficult to process his passing.
