I dunno, haven't changed any settings. what happens is you'll see a random word in green font and that seems to be where the pop up generates from. strange.

I would guess its a forum controlled thing.

A lot of forums do that when you're not logged in. Some variety of sneaky clickbait.

I switched from iPhone 4S to an android device and could not be happier. The phone took a little while to set up but Android makes it possible to configure the phone exactly how you want. I listen to my phone exclusively in my car on my commute.

Android makes it possible to copy or stream music from my NAS right to my phone w/o the cluncky iTunes migration process. I can also manage photos and documents directly.

However, I still use iTunes as my music catalogue and player at home. I like the interface and I am able to stream music from my NAS to my Apple TV that is connected to my home theater. You can import music and CDs directly into Mp3 format so there are no issues w/ the apple format on other devices.

Apple definitely does a good job w/ some things - but my phone is very personal - its the one device that I always have with me and i'm using for just about everything. I prefer the flexibility offered by Android to create a device that integrates best w/ my life vs being forced into what apple thinks I need.

Have you set Safari to block pop ups?

yep.

can't understand it but frankly when I'm using an apple product I don't feel like I should have to understand it. the appeal has always been 'it just works'.

How are people listening to music or watching movies?

We use Netflix and Amazon Prime for movies/TV and I buy music via Amazon MP3.

The trend has moved from buying media content (iTunes) to streaming it after paying for access (Netflix, Rhapsody, etc). The iTunes model was all about buying...

I have not purchased music for a long long time. I ripped my CD collection (about 100) many years ago but don't bother to listen to it anymore. Evenings and weekends we just tune into streaming music over DirectTV or internet.

Matt, as long as your music is in non Apple proprietary format you should be able to move it wherever you desire otherwise you can burn music CDs and then rip them back.

Music trends - Nokia provides access to streaming music that you could also download for their handset users. Built into every phone. No extra fees/costs.

I must be the only one who likes to listen to music that I know I'll enjoy?

Then again, I listen to a lot of progressive stuff, and also like to listen to an entire album at a time.

Blue,

I still listen to vinyl. I prefer to buy from mp3s from Amazon but I will buy used CD's on music that I just can't download.

That phrase says it all. The older demographic buys known products and stops buying, the younger experiments and keeps buying, making that the revenue sream to pursue. Someone like me, who has pretty much bought all the tunes he's gonna via iTunes, isn't good for AAPL share prices.

I don't know, I think I spend more on music now than I did when CDs were just coming out.

The difference is I'm more selective about what I listen to - if I like an artist I'll buy everything they churn out (until they betray me ). I can't stand the radio because I hate having to sift through crap to find something I enjoy. While streaming services allow you to be somewhat selective, that doesn't do much for me when I'm in the car--which is when I listen to music the most.

The younger doesn't buy - they stream, and typically only things that are "free." The business model is totally different, to the extent there is one. Essentially use habits and personal info are the payment, but at some point not clear the return upstream.

Forgot that part. I'm on phone #2 and it needs repair. Wife is on #2 and has also purchased two screens. Some of that is abuse, but they aren't very robust.

What the hell do you people do to your phones? I've never shattered a screen in 5+ years of iPhones, and I'm not easy one them by any means.
