I was back home in PA a year after 9/11 visiting my parents. We drove out to the flight 93 site. Its resting place 1.6 miles from the lake I used to water ski on as a kid. There was a makeshift memorial in place. I'll never forget the speech of a witness. Old on guy, could hardly walk.

His house is the house just south of the site. Very close. He heard the plane, looked up and saw it come in. He mentioned he felt the heat of the blast. It was heartbreaking.

I work for a BIG bank. A lot of folks that I work with knew folks that died or had their lives ripped apart.

It's surprising that today hasn't been turned into a federal holiday of remembrance or something.

Flight 93.

Just watched an hour special on Discovery.

It was well done - lots of family members recalling their interactions.

What those people did on that flight was more than heroic......

I had just left Officer Basic Course a few days earlier and had spent time w my family in Tennessee before returning to Texas to collect my family before we moved to the 1st Infantry Division in Germany.

Flew to Germany with wife and infant son on Sept 15, 2001. Scared for our safety but mainly for theirs. DFW is a strange place when empty and everyone was looking at each other as if trying to figure out which mofo on the plane was going to hijack it and whom I would have to neutralize.

I knew a few guys that lost their lives in Iraq. Consider myself lucky to have just had a few close calls.

I won't forget.

We were there for vacation exactly a year earlier...9/11/2000
We toured the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Stock Exchange and the Twin Towers all in one day.

We had hoped to take the elevator to the roof-top of Tower 1? but they had stopped the roof-top tours shortly before then.

The one thing that really surprised me was when walking into one of the Towers at ground level was just how large they were inside. Hard to believe until you walked in.

It was around 11pm in Adelaide when it happened. I watched the whole thing live.

The next day at work we talked about nothing else. That's when I knew things had just changed forever. Never forget.

- Reach out and hug your loved ones.

Can’t believe it has been 22 years.

The haunting image for me is the falling man.

The response to this event changed this country forever.

Thank you, Tim...those were good. For anyone who didn't look...it's a roll call of many of the rescue/recovery dogs who assisted post 9-11.

Tugs at the heart.....

You’re right, Peter, the repercussions were global.
