Hmm, this may be a solution for high priced data plans

https://yourkarma.com

A 2.5 x 2.5 x .5 portable wifi puck.

Ships in december for $150.

Pre-order gets $50 off.

They have a referral program that can earn you $10 for each sign up.

No contracts.

$14.00 per gigbyte of data transfer.

Unused data does not expire meaning it's not a $14.00 per month bill.

Think of it like a Toll Tag / Easy Pass for data.

Coverage seems pretty good for major populated areas. https://yourkarma.com/coverage

I may have to pick one up.

That could replace the Verizon MiFi that I carry for business trips. How is Sprint's network? Thanks for posting!

I just switched to AT&T's network because Sprint's sucked so bad around Sacramento.

Interesting.... Would be a good travel solution for us. When we are in LA the only Internet connection we have is our phones, the place we stay doesn't have wifi. Should be cheaper than tacking on extra data on my phone and tethering.

I would need to understand the network first.

Also, right now I'm paying for 10GB shared between all my plan devices with $10 per GB over.

It interests me from the POV that I have cell data disabled for my kids devices. They can only use WIFI which means I can monitor their activities, for the most part.

But on long car trips or other outings they are cut off.

At $99 for the device and data that does not expire it seems like a good alternative for those select times when I would need it.

Heck it even makes sense for my wifes WIFI only iPad.

If anyone buys let's let each other know so we can share referrals and get some value add.
