I think Vettel will find himself evenly matched with Kimi at Ferrari. I assume Kimi is staying.
Alonso to Red Bull? Or to McLaren? Oh, I see Kvyat is RB's second driver. So Alonso must be going to McLaren. I don't see him going to Williams. If so, is it Button or Magnuson who loses out? Last edited by jyl; 10-03-2014 at 08:19 PM.. |

The new regulations really tightened the ol´sphincter for Vettel. Seems he just could not adapt quick enough to take advantage. He has been breastfed for many years now by Redbull. Now he will have to stand on his on two legs and really show what he is made of. Personally I Believe he will do just fine.
I wonder if Nico will do as his father and become a champion. I would like that. For some reason I would rather prefer Nico than Lewis.

What a disaster. As a long-term supporter of the Scuderia, this has to be the worst possible news.
I can hope that Hamilton will make a left turn and return to McLaren and Alonso will take his place at Mercedes, but that's a bit of a long shot. I hate to think of Alonso at a team I can't stand (McLaren) and a driver I can't stand (Vettel) at my favorite team. Next year is going to suck a big one. JR |

Great news for Kvyat. Vettel is doing a Schumacher. Hard to imagine McLaren welcoming Alonso back, just as it is hard to imagine him not in the Scuderia. Sayanora Button.
He Christian Horner interview was interesting. He really tried hard to paint a rosy picture, but it is never good when a 4 time world champ leaves.

I can't help but think that much of Vettel's success came down to his being in a vastly superior car. Interesting that he is getting spanked by a much less experienced teammate. I just cannot believe that he is the driver many fans seem to think he is. I don't doubt that he's a good driver, but I do doubt that he's a truly great one, four titles notwithstanding. Not that it matters much. I've read that Honda badly wants Alonzo in the McLaren-Honda next year. We shall see. I do think that Alonzo's departure was entirely predictable once it was clear that Montezemolo was being canned.

Really, wow that's a surprise, but his car has sucked all year, and to say he's not a great driver give your head a shake. Given his attitude I don't think he'll last a Ferrari anyway.

Not often an engine mfg gets into F1 and produces a winning car first year. Honda spent how many years in F1 without having a winner? Therefore a move to McLaren seems very risky for Alonso. Not to mention the bad history there. Which makes me ask if he was pushed out of Ferrari?
Hard to imagine, he's clearly been driving the Ferrari above its level, he has been pretty diplomatic in his comments about the car, and the head of the team and company took the fall anyway. So he must want to leave. I said I didn't see him in a Williams. Hmm. Why did I say that? Mercedes engines. Martini deal. Well ahead of McLaren in constructors points. Massa is underperforming former test driver Bottas. Do you think Alonso could go to Williams? Should he? |
