Just bought that Sopwith Pup

From my old thread when at the air force flying-in at Dayton I just looked at the pup a guy had for sale south of Indy and bought it: Steel fuselage is tack welded up, nose bowl and all the ribs are cut out. Full size built from original plans except for the fuselage which is steel tubing: Still a ton of work but a good start. I have to go back and pick it up but he did give me the gun for it, very nice repo Vickers 303 which I took with me, I had to bring something home today

Here are some pics of what it will look like when done someday!

Wow, how very cool...I love the WW1 warbirds (well WW2 also).
That must be great fun working with and flying those two.
I'm envious.

They use a lot of different motors but the common one to keep it looking correct is the radial engine, Rotec makes a nice 7 cylinder, r2800 @ 115hp, but I'm also looking at the Russian built radial @ 160hp

I just hope you don't get into a blazing dog fight with your son and knock him out of the sky with those bad Azz machine guns.

Looks too cool.

If you're talking about the Vedeneyev M14, that is 360hp - not 160.

I know its not the one Culp uses, I will find out, someone on the west coast is building them, you can get them with a reduction drive or not.

Craig, my grandson has not stopped talking about your SE5a. We knew almost nothing about WWI aircraft and now we know all the planes. You made a little boy very, very happy when you were in Dayton and helped me give him a higher, broader horizon to aspire to. "Yes, men who fly airplanes are nice people. Yes, you can be one too." Priceless lessons.
