Two Nights in a row
and I'm not sure what's happening, it's raining again in SoCal. I had to wear a jacket when we went out tonight, still in shorts but a jacket. Not sure if I like this.

Rumor has it you are in one of the worst droughts in recent history and you don't like rain? Yeah it's inconvenient but without it...

you see, water here doesn't mean much, we don't drink water from our rain, it only helps us when it rains farther north. This just washes the streets and runs into the ocean. so, you were saying?

View it as a free car wash... driving down the 110 to work this morning... what the heck is that down the freeway? Looks like fog, then, WHAM! It was a gullywasher! (hey, this IS the west... I have been waiting YEARS to use the term 'gullywasher'!) anyway. I kid you not, as soon as I parked at work I texted my wife "Pull your car out of the garage, free carwash on it's way!"

Or cmon over and we can drink beers by the pool. You might think it's still warm enough to swim too

Snowed yesterday in Indiana. Down in SWFL it got down to
low 70s. I was uncomfortable in my t-shirt/shorts/dock shoes, my weekend uniform. I tried to go fishing, but it was just too cold. |

Two Nights in a row
Body shops in SoCal pray for the first rain of the season. It's madness - months of oil, grease, etc. all floats up and makes the road like a skating rink. Add to that all the traffic and generally incompetent drivers out there (plus overly aggressive driving habits) and it's a money printing press for them.
I remember a few years ago we got the first rainfall in about 8 months while I was at work. Took one look at the Sigalert map and said "screw this". It would've taken hours to get home (Glendale / Burbank to Long Beach - normally an hour or so) if I made it at all without being rear-ended by some idiot. I called up a friend, went to BBG (Burbank Bar & Grille - cool place I liked to go to occasionally) and had a nice dinner, then stayed in a hotel room down the street from work that night. Wasn't worth dealing with the driving conditions.

I hope it's a wet winter in SoCal, with lots of snow up in the mountains.

They say it'll rain this week here. I'm looking forward to it. The RainX is on the counter top, just need to apply it to the windshields on the cars today. We need a ton a rain to catch up. The two largest reservoirs in the area are 40-50 feet low.

The way I see California is as follows:
Earthquakes today? No. Check Brushfires today? No. Check Riots? No. Check. Weather good? Check. The way I see it you have nothing to complain about. Oh wait. A few clouds on the horizon namely Mid-term elections. Still you Californians and Arizonites have it pretty good as evidenced by the many snowbirds that plant their butts on your land for six months of the year. Guy ![]() |

Meh, depends on where you live for the earthquakes. If you are prepared an earthquake is not liable to be bad, unless you just happen to be driving on the Bay Bridge in SF when it hits
![]() Weather is good enough that I have had the top down on my car about 95% of the time since I got it, at least that much, maybe more. Tomatoes, peaches and cherries, citrus, all the fresh produce you can imagine, in the back yard. The water thing is going to be the killer. Stupidly managed is not working out.
