Yep. I think it's possible that what we are seeing that looks like a crack is just weird shadows and rubber transfer, but I'm prepared for the worst. I guess we'll see on Mon.

I've considered getting a set of 18" wheels and storing the 19s. 18s should still provide tons of traction, a slightly better ride and be a little more protected due to the extra sidewall.

I had a Cayman S with 18"s and PSS9s and one with PASM and 19"s. I preferred the ride with the 18"s and thought they looked good.

Yeah, there's a guy in the local PCA that's got a set of 18" Cayman wheels FS for $1500 w/o tires or TPMS. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to go that route right now.

I wish I had thought of it yesterday, I would have gotten on the PCA site and asked to borrow a jack and one of the new security sockets and just taken the wheel off myself and drove it to the dealer tomorrow. I did manage to find a wrecker service that isn't trying to screw me before they get here on the tow tomorrow that said that he can do low cars, no problem.

I'd ask about how you're supposed to rotate your tires without a spare, but that's not something probably you're intended to do at home either.

How are you supposed to rotate tires with very different tire and wheel sizes front and rear?

Oops, I had no idea that Boxters had different sized front/rear wheels. I was thinking more of everyday cars that no longer come with a spare.

Fortunately, this dealer sells the same tire and wheel insurance, so hopefully, that will help things go more smoothly.

The tire was paid for by the insurance. I picked the car up today. I had to pay for a replacement kit with the tire sealant, and I've got one of the keys for the security lugbolts on order. Now I need to find a jack. I'm thinking that instead of trying to find a big, pricey, hard to store floor/mechanic's style jack, I may just buy an OEM jack from an earlier model Boxster from the years when they actually came with a jack. That should be smaller, lighter and cheaper.

It's nice to have the car back.
