I love the fire bluing on the small parts of old colts.
CDNN has GI 1991s for $679 and it keeps going down. Part of that is a mail in rebate so I guess you get to be a Colt creditor when they buy the farm. |

I've thought it a shame Colt gave up on the double action revolver market. I know the Python action isn't a viable production option, but I'm certainly not blown away with S&W's or Ruger's fit and finish today. I believe a MK III action with a finish that isn't matched by other manufacturers would sell for the premium the production would cost. And they gave up on the Magnum Carry right before it became what the public wanted.

i'll probably go with imitation ivory or mammoth ivory. Elephant ivory is WAAAAY too controversial these days.

Jeff, I'm probably using the wrong terminology for the cowboy guns, but the fact is that I'm from a generation that just doesn't care about the old west. I love revolvers and currently have a 686+ and a mk3 Trooper, but the cowboy stuff does nothing for me. Same applies to my numerous gun owning friends. My only point is that its a very niche product, and that they should take advantage of their rich modern revolver history to appeal to a broader audience.
