Interesting Ice Formation
Last week I came across this as I was walking the dogs. Very interesting...
  Of course I had to touch it! The ice was so fine as it touched my fingers it melted immediately.  I'm thinking that the plants outgassed water vapor, burst due to the cold or something else. Any ideas? Ever see anything like this?

We used to call them ice ribbons. I have seen them extruded out of plant stems and steel fence posts where water collected in a pocket.

Freaky, I've never seen anything like that. When we lived in Japan, I used to see
Stuff like the pic below where, usually at night, ice would grow up out of the ground where melt water from the eaves had collected.

My time living in northern Japan experiencing snow, and ice, and icicles was pretty magical. The first time I was 8-10yo and the second time I was 13-15. 2
Between the crazy snow and cold and the stuff that seemed so weird with ice growing up out of the ground, and icicles 6-8' long where sometimes the bases (tops I guess) had all fused to the point that some of the sheets were 6' wide and 3' tall with several more feet of icicles hanging off of the bottom of those. Yeah, cool stuff.
