"WHY THE FAN? WHY NOT A/C?"

or if you want the AC:

"WHY THE AC? WHY NOT THE FAN?"

or

"WHY THE FAN / AC? WHY NOT THE WINDOW?"

nothing is more attractive than being around a woman who has to tell you everything she knows...

I rarely get a straight answer when she buys something. She's smart as a whip, and she knows and understands a lot of topics, but when it comes to my shopping questions:

Me: Wow! That's a nice coin purse, where did you get it?
Her: It cost $10 bucks
Me: OK...I asked where you got it?
Her: It was on sale
Me: Nevermind.

And the funny thing is, that I've never chastized her for buying anything, ever. So it's not like she has to justify buying something for herself.

Ah yes. Woman speak.

"Are you ready to go?"
"Yes, I just have to put my sweater on."
"Umm, so you're not ready?"
"I said yes!"

Giving directions while approaching a Y intersection, "OK, turn here."

I work in a hospital. The majority of female-female conversations I witness are not conversations. Far more often than not, they are two or more females (sort of) taking turns talking about themselves. "I" this, "I" that. On and on. Can't handle being around it for more than 10-30 seconds.

My mother speaks to my 'ole man like this...as if everything she's doing is a tantamount task nobody else could accomplish so she needs attention and a resolution.

Wimmenzz...

I'm lucky, for the most part, Mrs. Saucy falls into guy talk category. We have full convo's without speaking. Usually, she's telling me to shut-up

One big "discussion" I had with my wife was when I driving and she was giving directions as we went to get to some peoples house I had never been to. I had no address or no idea where I was going but she would tell me to turn left or right and everything was OK. Then she said "Turn right at the top of the hill" so I did. It turned into a private driveway and I was impressed with her friends house. Then the yelling started. I was supposed to turn left just after the top of the hill. I explained that turn right at the top of the hill is a simple direction with only one possible option. If I was to turn left at the intersection at the top of the hill she should specify that.

Ahh...driving directions...

Friend of ours moved recently (up in the Phoenix area), and we went to visit after I got home from a work trip. I didn't engage the GPS (mistake one), and just had her giving me directions. At one point, she tells me to turn left at the next road, while she's pointing right...

My wife will dream that I did something to piss her off, then wake up mad at me.

Much of this is covered already in stomachmonkey's "women" thread. I knew we had already
covered every possible topic here in OT:

I love my wife very very much. That being said, I have many of the same issues most of you do. Before she quit working to stay home with the kids I would ask her how her day was. She was the office manager, and insurance billing department for a small medical clinic. She would proceed to give me 30 minutes or more about the people I don't know, the small office politics, and the minutia of dealing with insurance companies. She was a font of knowledge for her office but no matter how often I politely let her know that the Cliff Notes version was sufficient she never really understood it. Conversely, I repair industrial robots and CNC machines. Before that I worked as a commercial electrician. I always keep it very basic and generic. Unless you work in the field, the technical parts of the job are both complicated, and an absolute snooze to other people. It's better to just let her natter on for a while. It validates her, and makes her feel good that she is telling me all about her day. In the end, that's a small price for me to pay. I'm sure she doesn't have any interest in the old radios and cars I show her pictures of.

I am regularly accused (by other women) of being "just like a man to talk to..."

I consider it a compliment. Further, I find that I much prefer the company of women who communicate in this style. I am absolutely comfortable with long silences. Endless hours of pointless, jibber-jabbing is enough to make me want to stab my hand with a screwdriver. I literally just stop hearing it entirely. It becomes background noise like traffic....

Angela,

Stabbing yourself in the hand with a screwdriver won't work. You have to stab them in the hand.
