About ten years ago I bought my wife an 88 635 and handed her the owners manual and told her to read a few specified pages, and to not ask me any questions about the car that was covered on those pages, specifically the warning light section. The car had something like five different brake warning lights.
About a month later she calls me and says there is a light on on the OBC, and tells me what light it is and asked if it something she should worry about. I told her to re read the owners manual and hung up the phone.
Yes I regretted that move when she got home

Today my wife and I plus the two grandchildren are driving to a holiday event. I'm driving my wife is the co-pilot. She did the research on the net for directions on how to get where we are going. I'm in the right lane on a four lane road so there is one lane to the left going the same direction. I say to her should I stay in this lane and she replies yes stay in this lane but go to the left ???!!! What the hell does that mean ? So I ask again should I stay in this lane ? Same friggen reply........I raise the decibel level of my question and I swear she say's stay in this lane but points to the left lane ........I give up Some how we made it to our destination, next time I plug in the GPS

I can tell you unequivocally that women can't even come close to competing with Indian programmers. My programmers, whom I've been using for 8 years, absolutely refuse to answer questions with straight answers, and ALWAYS deflect blame for everything to me. Highly frustrating.

Oh dear God. I had a project where we outsourced some of the engineering design work to an Indian contractor. They don't understand a deadline, won't give you an honest answer, seem to have holidays on a weekly basis, and never accept blame for anything.

Have you ever experienced the effect of a mother and daughter who live together after the daughter turns 20ish?
Honestly often they become almost twins even sharing political beliefs and taste in men regardless of how bizarre they may be.

The older I get the more sense it makes to stay single.

No kidding, you just get sick and tired of misguided idiocy and superstition. The only women I get along with don't look for "traits" in men to judge them, but have a bit of opportunist in 'em. They see men for what they bring to their lives as a whole.

Reason I say that: They mean what they say, you know where you stand, no BS, no quirks, no sudden changes for no reason.

I have this absolutely, insanely beautiful brunette in my life, a highly successful corporate trainer, and motivational speaker I've known for a decade- who if I am able to pin down (when I'm home, or she's in LV we spend time flirting and drinking wine), who put it eloquently last time we discussed this- I was discussing a chick who was this weirdo "Born again" christian virgin I met (of course, that deal didn't last 3 minutes with me) who wouldn't put out except for her next husband- totally kook stuff:

My girl said in response: "NO SEX? 10-4 I'M OUT THE DOOR!"

At that point, I found the one. Game on- for me. If I settle, that's the one- hot, no BS and is good enough to know where she stands.

I am almost sure of this but all these women you guys mentioned here were not like that before they got married or when they were young. My wife is pretty good and to the point, but she does have her monuments. she would mention a name and expect me to remember exactly who were are talking about. Drives me nuts

Happened all the time when people talked to me for a several year period in my life. Reason being - I was the programmer for an odd set of CNC machines with axis lables and directions that didn't match anything else in the shop.

If anyone said anything in a way that would be plain simple speak, I would have to figure out if they were referencing the way my machines worked, or regular ones. (These were milling machines with a lay out like a lathe.)

The one I hated the most, is "make that value xxx amount higher" when talking about a negative number. Do increase the absolute value to "make it a bigger number", or make the negative number a higher value by decreasing its absolute value.

This constant checking throughout a work day to verify what some one else really needed rather than doing exactly what they said(as sometimes they said it correctly, and sometimes not), would carry over when I walked out of work for the day. Since a miss made part could get people killed, I spent most of the % of my time around other people narrowing down communication exactly.

Now that those machines are sold and gone, in personal life, I don't have people, especially females, explode at me for "not answering a simple question" as much anymore.

This behavior, is probably driven from a fear of making a mistake, and it can be hard to figure out when exact communication is critical, vs, trying to be exact all the time if something in life is conditioning you towards the former.

Its like a horrible feedback loop, some subjects you just cannot at all touch on if this feed back loop is active on the subject. The effect of "dreaming someone did something and being mad at them for it" is multiplied here as well. Things never ever said become dogma.

I don't think being single is such a good idea, but rather the "dating system" allows a lot more trouble and deception vs mutually arranged marriages.

My wife is WAY better now but the first few times way back then? Man-oh-Man! Kapow! Straight to the moon!

Me: "Ok dear no verbal directions, just show me which way with simple hand gestures, ok?
Wife: "What do you mean?"
M: "If you want me to turn this way then point in that direction...if you want me to stop, put up your hand, etc. Also tell me when I'm getting close."

Off we go!....W: "Turn right! No! My right! Make the truck turn more the other way! You're going the wrong way! Now you're going too far left! Make the trailer go the other way! You're going to hit that tree! Maybe go back and then keep more to the left....ARRGGGHH!

One word: speed bleeder. It's amazing how a simple instruction like "press the brake pedal down and don't let it go until I say" can be misunderstood. "Oh I thought you meant to pump it". "I did press it down, I just let it up afterwards - that's what you do with brake pedals". Went through that once, bought a Motive that afternoon and have been happily DIY-ing it alone since.

My wife's father was a total DYI guy so he trained my wife very well. I had her help me pump the brakes once and it was no major deal except I could tell she did not want to be out in the garage doing that. I bought the vacuum setup so I can bleed brakes by myself. She will pick up on a funny noise from a car very early. She notices everything about a car and knows if something has changed.

No doubt the conversation about someone she knows or works with that I met once at a party or when we bumped into them at a restaurant several years ago and we spent 60 seconds saying hi and I am supposed to remember they have a dog named Chewy and their daughter is the one that is nurse at the hospital where my dad had his gall bladder operation. My wife will start with something like Sue bought a new pickup. And I of course ask "Who" and my wife gets mad that I don't know she meant that Sue not one of the other 5 or 6 women named Sue. She can see the face of the person in her head and I am supposed to pick up on that. And why would I care to know if some lady I never met and do not know bought a new truck? Well I met her parents and chatted for 60 seconds 11 years ago when we were walking the dogs at the park.
