When will US oil production peak?
Back in 2007-2010 I spent a lot of time reading economics blogs. Then I stopped. Now I've started again. I don't really know why, other than a growing anxiety over the global economy.
Anyway, here is one thing I saw. This article describes a study that concludes US unconventional oil production will peak around 2020 then decline rapidly. New Study Says US Fracking Boom Will Fade Quickly After 2020 | naked capitalism Thoughts? |

Tom, you back in town?
John, it will depend on the price of oil. If it goes up, we will produce more.

We will never hit peak oil. Markets will fluctuate but they will always respond and correct.

I remember in high school the teacher told us oil would be all gone by 2000. 14 years after that date we are awash with oil.

As evidenced by the markets lately, it's not so much about when production will peak as much as figuring out how much to produce, and when.

Not until my royalty checks get large enough to retire on!
The article is mainly talking about natural gas production, not oil. There is concern now that with the price of oil that drilling would slow down due to the low/slower return on investment. Fracking will indeed end at some point. Hopefully the technology for extraction will be better by then. Estimates now are that they are only getting 3 - 5% of the oil.
