Very cool. I only hope they go to enthusiasts / historians and not just rich idiots looking for a new piece of sculpture to impress their friends.
I'd love to get an hour of stick time in either a P51 or Me109 someday - bucket list item.

I first saw Connie's planes in 1988, He was a friend of my Father in law. I have climbed in all of his planes an and even drove his Sherman Tank. The day his son Tex turned 17 he got rated in every plane Connie owned, T-6 ,Super cub on Floats, PBY, TBM , HU-16 and it was an honer to brief Tex for his oral exams the night before his check ride. Last year when Tex was killed I new Connie would sell most of stash off. It was some of the best of times I ever had around airplanes.

Gary:
Did he ever consider restoring any of the fighters? Or did he not want to expose them to risk by flying them? |
