Its about the same way where I am here in Arizona. Lots of pickup trucks (and they are working trucks, not this lifted crap for boys), even folks on horses and many of them have something on their hip.

No one even looks at them anymore, its common-place around here and am glad to see it.

Think of the children?

Whoa . ..

I can't believe they let kids just carry those things out in the open.

Looks like that kid knows how to swing it too!

GASP!

I suppose there is always the risk of some 320_lb "gentle giant" "kid" reaching for a cop's gun too.

No open carry for cops!

Yes, except even the cops don't understand it and the public finds it unnecessarily provocative. And carry in a car is deemed concealed, not open.

I generally don't open carry. Only in the shop and it's in yer face. I call it my don't F*** with me gun. I think yer just asking for trouble from the public and LEOs to carry openly. I have had my 1911 in my shoulder holster spotted on occasion when my jacket was open enough. Nobody seemed to think anything about it. If I'm at the shop and I have to run on an errand i leave my gun there but keep my holster on in the summer. I have had people say '''Hey you forgot something" But then this is for the most part a rural community. Firearms are pretty commonplace. I still wouldn't open carry...just asking for controversy, not worth the hassle. I believe too that here if you have a CWP you must carry concealed..

Not exactly, You can have a firearm in your glovebox under the seat, what everand as long as you inform the officer as soon as he gets to the window you have not concealed anything from them. At least that is how it works around here. I always just make sure it is on the seat, problem solved

No open carry in the Awesome State of New York!
Even if it was available, I agree with targa, you're just asking for trouble.
I have a permit for concealed carry. I wouldn't carry any other way.

Carrying in a vehicle is concealed carry. It is allowed in NY with a CCW permit. Open carry is not. Logic then tells us that carrying in a vehicle must not be open carry.

I had this discussion with a cop friend a while back. He said they periodically get 911 calls about "man with a gun". If there's no threat, no brandishing, just a gun in a holster - they don't even send an officer. If a store owner calls they simply ask the gun owner to leave.

It's not just a club. I can tell by the expression on his face he is threatening the other kids in his class. Not just the kids; the teacher too. Quick send armed police officers.

The 2nd makes no reference to location. Particularly, the word "bear" implies you are not at home. "Keep" them at home, "bear" them outside. You have the right, as a human, to protect yourself. Anywhere. The 2nd is supposed to prevent your government from infringing on that right. Nowadays, it seems to be more likely that you'll need it away from home rather than at home.

In New Jersey, the gun laws are so narrow that I can really only keep and bear arms in the confines of my own home. Of course this makes sense, since in New Jersey, violent crimes ONLY happen in my own home, and nowhere else...
