It used to be that I would challenge my Countach obsessed friends by pointing out how many 911s one could buy for the price of one. But with the market going on as it has that argument seems to no longer legitimate.

Just a thought. When we were young we were full of dreams. This thread has reminded me of how I felt.

Dreams spark you up and get your moving and keep you motivated. Even if you never own a Countach, the "stretch" is worthwhile.

Interesting when contrasted agains this guys assessment of the reliability of his Ferrari and ease of maintenance (3:57 on this video)

To his point about that era of car, I guess this is why I like my primitive 73 911. How difficult is it to maintain a car that has wind up windows in place of computer controlled gadgets?

That guy's assessment is useless. A TR will take more to maintain than a Countach. Not only that, but his assertion that a TR owner won't have to worry about electronics... horse poo. They are notorious for fusebox failures. You'll spend a few thousand fixing that problem. The control units for the exhaust temp thermocouples... that's another bite in the ass. I don't know if I'd lump the elcetric window regulators into the "electronics" category but count on replacing those as well.

I guess that makes me even happier to have a fleet of vehicles that are largely pre-computer era. I see electric windows were the tip of the iceberg...now an electric steering sensor costs $2500.00 to replace in an SUV.

That makes early exotic super cars like the ones in the videos seem down right easy on the budget to maintain

If I were to indulge in a car fantasy, I'd say Lamborghini Miura or an '84 Ferrari GTO would be my top choices. I'd definitely want the GTO over any other Ferrari.
