Even though he doesn't deserve it, the end of the season. Chiarelli screwed up the team with bad deals and a bloated cap. Last Spring they said improving was #1 on the list and they did ZERO due to the market for D men and the B's cap issue. To make matters worse, the Bs have one goalie. After Rask, the others have GAA of 4.0 or worse. He has every win this season except for one! Sooner or later he will run out of gas. The Bruins have no playoff chance this season but the stats haven't shown it yet.

Claude will find himself another job the second he wants one. I'm wondering if Hitchcock is the next Bench Boss.

Answer, ~ 5 days... https://www.nhl.com/bruins/news/bruins-relieve-claude-julien-of-coaching-duties/c-286508860

Hello Las Vegas!
Great news for Claude.

^^^
Hitch may be in the mix as well

Cheers

Hitchcock does not seem like the right coach for an expansion team. He has higher aspirations.

Por_sha911 02-08-2017 02:33 PM

I think that Claude got a raw deal but took one for the team. I still think that Hitch may be wearing a spoked B sometime soon.

BTW, I noticed that Cam didn't sound all that broken up over Claude leaving:

Bruins Management Issue Statements On Claude Julien
Jeremy Jacobs, Charlie Jacobs & Cam Neely reflect on Claude Julien's head coaching tenure
by Boston Bruins @NHLBruins / BostonBruins.com

Bruins President Cam Neely
"These decisions are not easy, and Don has my full support. I believe that we have a better team than our results to date show. I also recognize that there are areas that we as a group need to improve upon.

This decision does not in any way diminish Claude's legacy as a Bruins coach. I would like to wish him and his family all the best moving forward."

In essence, he said "you suck but I mean that in the nicest way possible..."

Cassidy just won his 3rd straight game. Not sure if it is better coaching or if having Claude gone woke up the players. The Bs beat the Habs like a rug tonight. :D
Marchand was the Bruins featured star player by NBCSN but he didn't get a chance to blindside trip anyone.

Claude Julien returns to Montreal as Habs dump Michel Therrien - NHL on CBC Sports - Hockey news, opinion, scores, stats, standings

Por_sha911 02-14-2017 05:35 PM

Wow, I mean WOW! I knew Claude would have offers but the Habs is a top tier job! Does he speak French?

I think it was the 4-0 shellacking the Habs took from the Bs that sent them over the edge (not really but I'll take any chance to gloat over a win against the Habs. Next think you know, Marchand will be moving to Montreal.

1990C4S 02-15-2017 04:19 AM

Yes, he speaks French.

It is also the second time he has replace Therrien.

What is shocking is that Boston allowed him to go to Montreal. Under NHL rules, because Julien was under contract and still being paid the Bruins could have [prevented him from taking the job.

In Montréal, 14 years ago:

Michel Therrien 2000–2003
Claude Julien 2003–2006

Michel Therrien 2012–2017
Claude Julien 2017–20??

Part of the severance package?
The real question is: will Brad Marchand follow?

Por_sha911 02-15-2017 12:42 PM

Since the Lets-Bash-Brad thread has turned into a catchall for the NHL;

What do you think about Vermette getting 10 days at Ban Island for abuse of an official?
Vermette gets automatic 10-game suspension for linesman slash | ProHockeyTalk

billybek 02-15-2017 03:15 PM

Was a bit of a love tap compared to Wideman....

Vermette deserved his suspension. No way that was an accident!

Por_sha911 02-15-2017 04:07 PM

Agreed. The game is way to emotional and physical to allow any threat of offical abuse.

In other news, it appears that Nyquist is a guy only Brad Marchand could love...

billybek 02-15-2017 05:14 PM

No way that the Nyquist high stick was an accident. Nasty stuff.

Hawkeye's-911T 02-16-2017 09:17 AM

Vermette's suspension is deserved. Bottom line: Referees/umpires et al. are sacrosanct.
Nyquist was fortunate his blatantly dumb-a$$ed move didn't result in something far more serious & he will get the message. To Bill's point, nasty stuff indeed.

Cheers

1990C4S 02-16-2017 11:59 AM

Lysiak. 1983. No lame slashes, do it right.

Buckterrier 02-17-2017 09:16 AM

Since most of you are Crosby haters I'll bring it up. 1,000 points before turning 30. This with basically losing two seasons due to injury.
Someday you haters will marvel at what he did for the game of hockey. I'm fortunate I'm enjoying it while he's playing.

Hawkeye's-911T 02-17-2017 09:54 AM

We don't get to see enough of him out here on the 'wet-coast'. Guys like him are what makes the game what it is. (apologies to the grammar godz)

Cheers
JB
