For those who like the idea of 1000BHP F1 cars, the F1 Strategy Group met in Paris and have agreed a plan to see them introduced in 2017. They’ll also be looking at ways to add downforce and bring in wider tyres.

Isn't downforce one of the problems with F1 today? Why increase it? Shouldn't the FIA be doing the opposite?

I think F1 is too aero dominated. All that aero is not really transferable to production cars, and creates issues with passing.

Active suspension is something that would be transferrable to production cars, and kind of a new frontier since F1 hasn't had active suspension since the 1980s.
