One of the things that LEO's are hired for is good judgement. I see none here at all. I hope the couple is successful in their suit.

Those cops sounded way too wound up at the beginning of the incounter. And one can see how the mistakes snowballed as it went along.
Those folks were treated as tho they were known to be armed and dangerous from the get go.
A bit TOO HEAVY HANDED seeming to me for the circumstances.
Sounded like the cop expected the lady to raise up her crutch and tommy gun them with it.

Part of the problem is there are little direct consequences for the officers involved.
Once it involves lawyers and the courts its all on the department, and eventually tax payers to cover the costs. At worst they gat a paid leave to think about it.

This sort of attitude by the cops is the sort of interaction that leads to the mistrust so prevalent with the public today!

Cheers Richard

Incompetence.....and embarrassing for the cops involved.

As much as I abhor the media....this is one time I hope the press eats them alive.

Nope. They're hired for low IQ and "diversity", then the dept attempts to train them to exercise good judgment.

We have that here in this side of the pond too. Cops are doing their work like robots, they follow instructions precisely, with no common sense judgment and it has gotten worse with time. This couple should sue to defend their rights and the rights of everyone.

I didn't realize that the registration was so cryptic if you ran old plates. I wonder why they don't just show the original plate on the registration? Makes it a challenge when you drive to another state...as the LE may not be familiar with the practice.

Good thing they were old white people...or the rioters would have burned the city down by now.

Apples and oranges, Fint.

This couple were not shot and killed.

Please try to get the analogy correct if you choose to go down this path....otherwise you look very rigid.

They made a mistake. They are human. That said, they deserve to be sued for the way the treated a law abiding citizen. False arrest is bad but to be treated with so much indignity is is not called for.

What a crazy video. The whole thing seemed unreal. Honestly it looked like an elaborate joke.

So what do we learn here? Next time you're out cruising in the slow lane, never pull over even if the cherry's are on your azz. Likely are fake cops as the ones in the video. They can't be that stupid.

I run similar "year of issue" collector plate on my 911. I have been stopped at least half a dozen times under identical circumstances, wherein the officer runs the plate and it comes back invalid or something. I carry a copy of the RCW (Revised Code of Washington) that clearly explains the law.

In each and every instance the officer has been an absolute freaking jack ass. It's never come to what is shown in the video, but it's come awfully close. Amazingly, even politely presenting the RCW rarely serves to diffuse the situation and calm them down; it actually serves to escalate tensions, if you can believe that. Their egos apparently cannot accept the fact that they were mistaken, and a mere citizen is cognizant of both the applicable law and their rights.

And LEO's still have not grasped the fact that normal honest citizens have lost all respect for them. Most today are no more than childish, ego driven thugs who could not get a real job, leading all professions in wife beating, alcoholism, sociopathic behaviors, and other such charming traits. It's high time we start treating them like the lowlifes they are, and quit allowing them to "investigate" one another's bad behavior. It's time for citizens review boards that have full authority to dole out the discipline for these children, and well past time they are placed under adult supervision. No more free passes when they wantonly abuse citizens - hold them liable; hold them to this mythical "higher standard" that they are so happy to claim.

Okay so there was a clerical error. But why the %#^{ did these cops have their guns out?!

Apparently two old people are an immediate life threat to these brave officers. $;$:&&:$
