Central Lawn Fertilizing Systems

Anyone have any experience with central lawn fertilizing systems such as this one? Last time I used my drop spreader my lawn came out pin striped so was looking into different methods.

Why bother? It just makes your grass grow faster! I have 5 acres of lawn and if its green and short I'm happy! I don't care what its made up of, grass, weeds, whatever. As long as its not a foot tall!!!

Ha, I generally agree but I use a broadcast spreader and it avoids the striping issue.

I looked into that type of setup back when I installed my sprinkler system. The guy at the supply place said he would sell it but only if I paid cash and it did not go on his books. His theory was it was be very tempting to throw in some herbicides for weeds and then maybe some pre-emergent in the winter. Just a little runoff and the hook for the cleanup of the contamination is firmly in my butt.

In the end just pushing the fertilizer spreader around was safer. I set the spreader for 1/2 of the recommended dose, then I go back over it in the opposite direction. It takes twice as long and is twice the pushing and workout but it is spread evenly.

You don't need fertilizer, you need Photoshop, that's what they used.
