Careful with that stuff. I think you're treading on NFA territory.

I wonder how it goes with a Glock 18.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a carbine?

A solution in search of a problem IMHO.

It won't have to look very hard...
Rick is right, these conversions are on very shaky ground with the NFA. Essentially, if it starts life as a pistol, it must remain a pistol. If it starts life as a rifle, it must remain a rifle. That's how I understand it, but I have admittedly not dug all that deep into it, having no interest in this kind of nonsense. If I want a rifle, or a carbine, or a shotgun, or a pistol, or a revolver... I buy one. Plenty to choose from without the need to resort to this.

There are no NFA issues with this upper. You may have local legal issues, but there are no federal restrictions.
That said, I disagree with the article on whether it's a worthwhile purchase. I bought one on a lark. It wasn't useful for me. But then I live in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, where I can own pretty much whatever I damned well please. There's no reason for this thing when I can build a lighter weight AR in the same caliber. Gear/Gun Review: MechTech Carbine Conversion Unit -- TTAG Quote:

I just don't see the advantage.....was wondering if anyone else did. Except for the gee whiz factor. Cheap subsonic ammo and you could tap and bootleg a suppressor?
This one, which used a revolver and now a rarity. Is worth big bucks. Used to flame the face of the shooter out the sides of the cylinder. Most tossed the butt plate and sawed down the long barrel and used it as a hogleg. ![]()

Even then, a $200 tax and 2 months of waiting.....boom.....you're awesome little glock is now an SBR and short of making it select fire, you can go friggin nuts with stock and barrel choices. |

Thanks for the correction, guys. Shows you what I know.
Like I said, though, I still see no real reason to do this, what with all of the great firearms we enjoy today. Maybe for the shooter who has everything.

I look at these things as appealing more to the Hi-Point set than anyone else.

Kel-Tec makes a folding rifle in 9mm that fits the Glock mags. The only advantage to this is the rifle fps is higher than the pistol fps speed.
My kid has one. Fits in his backpack when he rides his bike. http://www.keltecweapons.com/our-guns/sub-2000/rifle/
