Spent 7 days at the Burn.

Wow. Just bonkers. I had a great time....till the wind picked up. Fri/Sat/Sun was rough at our camp. We planned on leaving Tuesday to avoid the mass exodus, but we said “eff it, we’re out” and left Monday.

As with most First Burns, I was basically lost most of the time. I don’t mean I didn’t know where I was, I mean just trying to grasp the whole thing and check out the right places. Preparation is key.

Ran out of beer on Saturday morning ( yeah, I said morning ), switched to bourbon that afternoon.

I’d do it again, but with slightly different accommodations.

The actual Burning was very, very impressive.
Pyro was excellent, but more importantly the crowd was extremely polite and everyone was sitting down so the view was unobstructed.

On the Playa.

Hope this answered your question.
Sammy,

This chronic ambiguity you have is due to low self-esteem.

I wanna go. Don't know how to even make that happen, though. Wish I knew somebody with tickets or whatever...

My Brother in Law was one of the original founders that started Burning Man. Naturally he was there every year before, during and after until about 5 years ago. He won't go again because it has totally changed from the original vibe and scene.

I never went. I find it really ironic and hypocritical that most attendees are screaming about the environment but having no problem setting 10 big rig loads of lumber on fire. They make sure to clean every speck of trash off the Burn site but completely dump everything at the first small town on the way home.

a loser called me out by name in this thread and I let him know what I thought of him and his lack or morals.

You sure you want to get in the middle of it?

No, Sammy.

I was trying to be funny. I enjoy your input here.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I agree that Burning Man is some kind of modern hedonism that does not reflect favorably on humanity. But all in all it's harmless. Yes, very weird and pointless. Hugely expensive of you chooe it to be, or not.

No one here would ever be able to say with a straight face that Ol' Sammy is ambiguous and has low self-esteem. That's the point of what I wrote. It was absurd, like Burning Man.

If I ever made a list of places I don't want to go, Burning man would be just a tick above the bottom of the AngloGold Ashanti's Mponeng gold mine, in South Africa, the deepest mine in the world, and about even with Ebola hospitals in Africa as a fun place to visit.

Right after Sammy reports back with a glowing report of the great fun he had I might try Burning Man, maybe.

I really don't care what other people do with their time and money. I hope they had a great time, and I am real happy I don't have to go.

Gotcha, my misunderstanding.

When I first saw this thread I figured whatever. If they want to act like that and try to rationalize or justify it then it's their business, and no one asked or cared if I approved so I stayed out of the thread.
But someone along the line had a hair up you-know where and drug me into it. I should have known better than to take that bait.

So I'll leave it at that.

Literally some of the most successful people I know go to Burning Man. Highly educated. Multimillionaires. People doing really cool things for society and the world. Actually helping people for a living. Very community conscious. Burning man has something for everyone, whether you're a musician or a gearhead. Frankly...it's too expensive for riff-raff. I'm sure you meant "loser" in your generalized, baseless statement.

I've never been, but based on first hand stories from my friends, I'd like to go, if just for the people watching. (And the fabrication...it's pretty nuts all over the place I hear).
